SP was really the only coach to come in here and build his team. The rest of the top pretty much benefited from the previous coaches work.
Credit Benson for sticking with coaches also. before tom all you could do was shake your head and marvel at the HC changes. |

Re: Ranking the Saints Head Coaches 1 through 16
I'm pretty partial to Bum, and believe he belongs in the top 5, but then again, Bum is the reason I moved over to the Saints in 1982. The fans solidified it
for me. I had already taken a new job in Louisiana, but the first time I hung out with the WhoDats, I knew I was home. My roots are Houston, but N.O. has been where my heart is all these years. I would still say Bum layed the groundwork for the Dome Patrol defense, starting with Rickey Jackson, and guys like Frank Warren, Dr. Jim Kovach, and yes, Dave Waymer--- love him or cuss him, a talented player. Our D under Bum, was awesome, and set the tone for the Mora years. He also brought us Morten. |

I always thought Jim Mora did a decent job as long as Jim Finks was getting the players. Once Finks left and the 3 headed monster was created, it was just God-Awful.
