Saints sign CB Derrius Brooks?
 

The Calgary Stampeders are on the verge of losing a key contributor in the defensive secondary.

Halfback Derrius Brooks announced on that he will sign Tuesday with the New Orleans Saints, of the National Football League.

“BIG DAY for me,” Brooks, 25, wrote on Twitter before revealing the big news.

The Western Kentucky product signed with the Stampeders in 2012 after an unsuccessful tryout with the Cincinnati Bengals. In 11 games last season, he pitched in with 35 tackles, three interceptions and six pass knock-downs.

Calgary’s defensive secondary promises to look awfully different next season with starting safety Eric Fraser claimed in the Ottawa expansion draft and a laundry list of cover guys eligible for free agency including Chris Randle, Fred Bennett, Jamar Wall and Jeff Hecht.

Touche, but i would say ball has the better chance of the 2 canadian signs. Ha i liked bush and isa a whole lot more. But agreed, never say never...

he maybe short at 5'9" but he has 33 3/4 arm length, vertical of 38. the dude just got a lot bigger.

5'9" is the same size as Tyrann Mathieu and he seems to be plenty big for the Cardinals. This cat has great speed and seems to have good hans as well. Would not be surprised at all to see him make the roster.

Replacement for a portion of Sproles. This is Cadets last season with us, if he makes it to start the season.

Returner and part time CB/RB pretty handy to have on the roster. Some really interesting players to keep a eye on during camp.

Oh yeah, the season kicks off in 22 weeks.

I hate the phrase "camp body". It's such an asinine phrase. Everyone is a camp body. The same way that everyone signed is thought to have the potential to be a game day contributor. Otherwise, they would not be signed....

I wouldnt doubt if Lance Moore had a little to do with that, or his brother Nick Moore had a little influence in identifying possible prospects inthe CFL. . Nick played for the Pats, Vikings, and Rams.. and has been in the CFL since 2011.

Its a reach... looooong reach that there are ties, but who did we sign from the CFL before 2011?

yep fast. impressive eye and hand coordination. i like the way he seem to always turn and look for the ball.

Looks good on that tape
Aggressive with his hands at start of play,watches the ball and not just the player. Could be a player both sides of the ball and a possible ST player

I said the same thing about Saalim Hakim coming into training camp last year but unfortunately he couldn't catch a ball with a fisherman's net.

Let's hope Mr. Brooks has better hands and route running ability.
