Tall Corners VS Shorter Corners
 

I just watched a highlight clip on Jason Verrett. He was featured in a piece in PFT on NBC. He's only 5'9 but has a lot of speed and is very instinctive.

Im torn in this situation because I know height is not everything and each player is different. For example, P.Rod is not very tall and so far I have not seen a lot of production from him. I have seen a glimpse of skill from him but nothing like Vaccaro and his impact that was made.

I guess my point is would ya'll rather have a smaller CB next to Lewis, or another Lewis type corner that can hang with big receivers?

I'd rather a taller(bigger) corner who can press the receiver; Lewis is pretty good at pressing as is White and Robinson is decent from what I remember...

Revis is only 5-11, he has no problem. Greer was also 5-11.

If they have a great vertical and long arms, an inch or two doesn't really matter.

The top 10 CB prospects in this years draft average 5-11.

I wouldn't disqualify a 5-10 CB, but they better have long arms, cover like a glove, and be able to jump thru the roof.

I also feel like Goodell will put an end to the muggings like Seattle got away with.

Typically tall CB's just don't have the hip flip and quickness that shorter CB's do.

I agree with all of your points D and I also believe the vertical is a huge part in an overall CB. If the guy is 5,9 but can dunk like Lebron, bring him on. I think the benefit with smaller corners are that they are typically faster and the footwork is as well.

My only concern is just getting straight man handled by big receivers like Megatron reverting back to my previous statement of being torn.

I gotta believe the league has to crack down on the holding. There have been too many articles pointing it out and Dilfer is challenging the league publically. He's telling anyone that will listen the Seahawks are cheating because Goodall doesn't have the quevoes to do anything about it.

As far as tall vs. short, I think talent and physical ability far outweigh the advantage height might bring. There's been some pretty good "short" corners.

Remember with the system Rob Ryan runs its beneficial to have big corners because they can physically handle the receivers when left on an island and also tackle when needed. Not to say a small corner can't do the same but there is a reason why they chased Nmamdi twice.

In just our division we need taller corner we have to cover White and Jones from Atlanta, Lafell from Carolina, and Williams from Tampa so I would want a taller more physical player. We've always had corners under 6' tall it's time to make change.

Tall corners are susceptible to the double move, because as Danno said, they don't have the same quickness (You can get Richard Sherman with the double move pretty consistently). I was a tall corner being 6'0" tall, and I definitely preferred covering the big receivers. Because the small, quick ones were ridiculously hard for me to deal with without giving them some cushion or getting my hands on them from the jump. With that said, the top receivers in the league are big guys, so we need big corners. When corners start getting to big or too good at handling the taller receivers, they'll go back to smaller receivers and so on and so forth. It's a cycle. But 5'11" is good enough. Jabari Greer never played 5'11" to me. More like 5'8". I can just remember how great he looked when he first got here though....anyways...we'll get corner situated I'm sure.
