Re: Rafael Bush's New Role
I think Ryan is planning on playing a 3- S set alot. Byrd want be playing SS he will be a single high FS role ball- hawking. V will be at SS with Bush recking havoc on slot recievers and TE's. I wouldn't think we would let Bush be a back-up at that money. Now can he cover is the question, and can he ball-hawk thats a lot of money being paid out if he can't.

Can't wait to see what Rob comes up with! Brees and Payton sure have their work cut out for them in practice going against that beastly secondary.

Re: Rafael Bush's New Role
We had to match that offer. Bush is an ascending player and really, the only one in the secondary that will lay the wood, and that's something we badly need. We are really only 4 deep at the S position now with Byrd, Vaccaro, Ball and Bush so we're not that loaded. Additionally, I believe we'll be running a Big 3-3-5 base with very athletic players in hybrid roles. You all know how SP rotates players in and out during games. We really have no starters, it's just groups of players for any given play or series. This D is going to be something new to the league and take a lot of teams by surprise. It may well take the NFL 2 years to catch up. This isn't Seattle's defense, it's something totally new. I.....can't......wait!!!

Here's a link to a post at another site which shall remain nameless, about the 3-3-5 defense and the kind of players needed to run it effectively.

Re: Rafael Bush's New Role
New role? How about having him start more than 6 games in his previous role? I'll be happy with that!!
