Yep!

Essentially...

We got a crappy Champ Bailey for $500k... and cut him with minimal loss if he doesn't pan out.

or

We got a Pro-Bpwl caliber Champ Bailey for 1.8m/year

Year Base S. Bonus ......Misc. .......Cap Hit Dead
2014 1,000,000 250,000 - 1,250,000 -

2016 UFA

2014 Roster Bonus (active 6 games): $250,000 (NLTBE)
2015 Roster Bonus (5th league day) : $250,000
2015 Roster Bonus (Week 1): $250,000
Annual Incentive: $150,000
Pro Bowl: $150,000
Playing Time Incentive: $1.2 million

Most of it is incentive and bonus based.

Where do year end incentive bonuses fall, in this year or next? I don't mean just for Bailey, but everyone?

Not sure if I completely understand the question but they should fall into that respective year.

The roster bonuses fall into their respective years.
The pro-bowl, play-time, and Annual will also fall into their respective years as those are not identified as year specific.

The grayish area is the NLTBE (Not Likely to be earned)
*2014 Roster Bonus (active 6 games): $250,000 (NLTBE) <-- This one for instance is NLTBE so it doesn't hit the cap unless he is active for a 6th game, then it hits that years cap.

Was I close?

Ill guess that Loomis was very careful to word things correctly (NLTBE) and ensure that our cap doesn't bear any weight until it has to.

That helps, and leads me to this what if: It is the end of regular season and we are 500,000 under the cap. Bailey earns 1.45 mill in bonuses. How do we pay it? Do we have to cut someone?
That's why I asked what year the hit falls in

Only the bonuses that are NLTBE are not counted towards the cap. The rest count towards the cap right now so we are covered.

Theoretically you could say if we have $1 in cap space that could put us over and cause us to be penalized but Loomis never gets that close.

When you see me hemming and hawing saying that 2m in cap space means no cap space this is a small part of the reason. The rest is that between right now and start of the season we will have a minimum of $4m in signings between practice squad, the drafted players, and +2.

+2 is because right now it's a 51 player soft cap, the lowest two team salaries are not counted yet. Rookie minimum * 2....
