NFL takes back $21,000 fine on safety Rafael Bush following appeal
1 Attachment(s)
The NFL has taken back a $21,000 fine against New Orleans Saints safety Rafael Bush following a successful appeal, according to his agent Brian Anderson.
"I just realized it took me 3 months to appeal my last fine yep can I have my 21 back now thank you," Bush tweeted Wednesday night." Bush was fined for a hit against Seattle Seahawks wide receiver Percy Harvin in their NFC divisional playoff game in January. He was penalized 15 yards for a hit to a defenseless receiver, which caused the Harvin to leave the game to be tested for a concussion. Harvin returned to the game, but later left again for good after hitting the turf following an incomplete pass. "Anybody know me knows I play fast and physical but it's all good y'all have a blessed day," Bush tweeted after the game. So the NFL "took back" the fine? Am I the only one that is confused a bit? So did he get his coin back or not?! Cause if the league took it back that means they still have it!

If you go to the link the article is titled "rescinds", not "takes back".

Re: NFL takes back $21,000 fine on safety Rafael Bush following appeal
Its all about making the point straight after the game.
Look how many players say the money was never taken for fines or players that win on appeal. This just allows the front office to make out that they are cracking down on big hits to the outside world while not actually enforcing anything. The league knows the fans want big hits, the players want to play hard and fast but in a era of player safety they need to show they are doing something, even if they really are not. |

When Bush said "I can have my 21 back".... It was clear to me.. I do have the benefit of posting a lot of articles and titles are often misleading. |

that clearly was a legal hit; I was telling my friends the blow was not to his head. The argument is and always will be defining a defenseless player

I cant begin to count the times that Colston has been hit just like that with no flag.

I just wonder if the Seahags fans will take back their vitriol now that the fine has been rescinded.

http://dailysnark.com/wp-content/upl...ushSeattle.gif My take is that under the current rules the hit was illegal, yet it did not warrant a fine because the hit could not be avoided. Bush clearly made contact with Harvin's head. Under the current rules that is a penalty regardless of the circumstances. When Bush began his body drive to make the tackle it was directed at Harvin's chest where the ball would have been in his hands. When Harvin bobbled the ball he dropped down and Bush's left shoulder and helmet caught him flush in the head. Under today's rules the call on the field was right. However, the fine was not justified because the illegal hit was unavoidable. The rule itself is the problem. It puts a defensive player in the situation of attempting to make a legal hit only to be punished by the repositioning of the offensive player. As a result, I am pissed off as a Saints fan and can fully understand the Seahawk fan's vitriol as well. |

that hit set the tone the saints came to play sea clucks hard. Now to me refs gave game to sea cpecks. The hit was ok the refs were onesided all game.saints secondary be as good if allowed to cheat like sea ducks all year.now if refs call rules same both sides keep in mind when lance Moore came back with just a small part of the BULLSSSSSt sea cluks did the flag almost break the speed of sound flying out of refs hands.
