this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; I really like Any given sunday (Cameron Diaz), The Program, Friday Night Lights and Varsity Blues. Waterboy, The replacements and The longest yards are good for laughing....

Not a movie, but the Friday Night Lights television show was excellent. I actually prefer that over any football movie I've seen. That's saying a lot for me, because I am a big fan of Remember the Titans, The Replacements, Brian's Song, and The Last Boy Scout.

Friday Night lights is also a movie, it was before the TV show. You may want to catch it, pretty good flick about Texas football in the Midland/Odessa area.

Seen it. A few times. Didn't care for it nearly as much as I did the series. Don't get me wrong, I liked it. Just liked the series even more.

I would have loved to been attached to Minka Kelly, Adrienne Palicki, and Connie Britton in other ways, too. ![]()

Re: Best Football movie.
For me it is North Dallas 40 and the rest are somewhere in the distance in the rear view mirror. I love the part when the 'Tuz, playing a lineman for the Cowboys...a real football player...goes off on one of the coaches. "When we call it a game, you call it a business. When we call it a business, you call it a game!" I particularly like the part when, at the end of the rant, Nick Nolte says, "Far out!"
It is interesting to note that this movie was based on the real story of Pete Gent, played by Nick, and his issues with Coach Landry and the FO, and his friend Don Meredith, played by Mac Davis. Great movie and one of the most realistic professional football movies I've ever seen. Here's a sample, for those who haven't seen it... |
Whether you think you can or think you can't...you're right!

Re: Best Football movie.
I don't think anyone has mentioned Hose Manning, played by Joe Kapp.
