Plays with some nastiness. Plays to the whistle and isn't opposed to getting an extra shot in as the whistle blows. A good athlete whose flaws are coachable, suggesting that his best football is still ahead of him. COMPARES TO: Alex Mack, Cleveland Browns -- Mack was among the more polished and talented centers in recent history when he left Cal and was selected by the Browns with the 21st overall pick of the 2009 draft. Martin isn't yet at this stage but his upside is clear, as is his grit and physicality. With dedication to his craft, Martin could emerge as a quality starter in the NFL. --Rob Rang (2/2/14) Marcus Martin, C, Southern California, NFL Draft - CBSSports.com - NFLDraftScout.com |

But, do we have the coach that can do this?

Re: USC's Marcus Martin meets with Saints
Good question. That will remain to be seen? All I really know is without a strong play from Center our line looks like a wounded duck up the middle, I bet if Brees has a choice Center needs fixed, quick. Would I draft this guy? Yes! I like his mean streak!!

Re: USC's Marcus Martin meets with Saints
He looks like he has a bright future in the NFL and he looks to be a great fit here.
I don't see the downside of grabbing this guy in the 2nd or 3rd round. I'd be elated |

Re: USC's Marcus Martin meets with Saints
I read his bio that Danno posted and they say he has a nasty streak that runs a little past the whistle. He's good in the trenches and moves well in traffic.
He's good in getting to the second level and sealing the block. His negatives are all coachable. He has a ton of upside since he only played the position for a year and is coming out as a Junior. Ding! Ding! We have a winner! |

Re: USC's Marcus Martin meets with Saints
Started at guard his freshman and sophomore years at USC. Says a lot that he started at multiple positions and that gives us more depth if we do sign Goodwin. He would be backup guard and center along with Lelito.

so in that i have to have faith and approach the pick as oh well lets see what we got. pass judgement 2 years down the road. get up fill the snack bowl and wait till the next pick and hope i get all excited with that one. |
