Re: Mark Ingram not confident Saints will pick up his 5th-year option
I wonder if Saints are planning on letting Mark go after this year regardless. And if so,are they gonna grab a back in the draft. If they do,who would yall like to see them pick up?

I think we may burn a mid to late pick on a scat back type RB that can create mismatches. Its gonna have to be a back that likely is too small for 15-20 touches per game, but can easily get 10 to 12. DeAnthony Thomas is a name I keep hearing as a mid rounder. |

No duh, Mark.

Considering how the undrafted Khiry Robinson has looked every bit as good as Ingram with far fewer touches, yeah Ingram's a goner. As far as drafting a RB I'd say that will only happen if Loomis and Payton have a hard-on for some scat-back like Dri Archer or D'Anthony Thomas. |

I would like another power back that runs over people like Ivory did. I dont want anymore scat backs. I want some big boys back there.

Think Mark Ingram is feeling the heat or something? Does he really even care?

Mark Ingram not confident Saints will pick up his 5th-year option
The New Orleans Saints don't intend to pick up the fifth-year option on running back Mark Ingram, according to CBS Sports.
The Saints have already picked up the option on defensive end Cam Jordan, giving him a base salary of $6.97 million in 2015. The team has not made any public announcement about their intentions. The Saints have until May 3 to exercise Ingram's option. That would reportedly come with a price tag of $5.2 million in base salary in 2015. Ingram's contract will be up at the end of the season. "I'm just working one day at a time, and I'm just glad I'm on a team that's a championship contender," he said when asked about the fifth-year option last week. I like this move. If Ingram proves 2013 wasn't a fluke, and he continues to be a good RB, then we can just resign him.
If it turns out 2013 was a fluke, his contract's up so we won't be stuck with him anymore. Win-win situation here. |
