Saints eyeing new offensive playmaker?
The New Orleans Saints are slotted to pick 27th in this year’s NFL Draft after a season in which the team captured a division title but fell short to the eventual world champion Seattle Seahawks in the divisional round of the playoffs. Undoubtedly both fans and representatives of the team believe the team is sitting on the precipice of greatness, poised to again attain the pinnacle of the game with the addition of a few critical pieces. And many pundits seem to believe that the black and gold just might be eyeing an opportunity to significantly bolster the team’s already dynamic offensive attack. Proponents of such a viewpoint undeniably side with the notion that the Saints are seeking to add a new weapon at QB Drew Brees’ disposal to help offset the departed production and offensive versatility left by Darren Sproles. Without question, this year’s draft is one which should provide New Orleans with an overabundance of viable options which can help the team compensate for the absence of Sproles.
The option which some Saints fans understandably have been clamoring for just may be unavailable by the team selects, as LSU WR/PR Odell Beckham has been projected by many as a top fifteen pick. He undoubtedly would be a player ideally suited to fill the significant void left by Sproles, given his instinctive knack for creating big plays in the open field with his great speed and uncanny ability to constantly evade defenders. Should he be unavailable by the time New Orleans selects, however, the Saints potentially could turn to another similarly desirable option. Southern Cal wideout Marqise Lee may be available in the Saints’ range, and he also possesses the skillset and versatility needed to compensate for the inescapable void of departed production left by Sproles. Lee undeniably possesses home run ability, the capability to instantly torch opposing defenses with his elite hands and speed both in the return game and in the passing game. The NFL Draft is nearly upon us, and it provides the golden opportunity for strong contenders to further strengthen their rosters and to advance yet one step closer to their ultimate Super Bowl goal. While New Orleans already is one of the most difficult offenses to defend against primarily because of QB Drew Brees, the team still is eyeing a chance to bolster its offense. Both Beckham and Lee appear to possess the skillset and versatility needed to help the club offset the loss of Darren Sproles, who constantly forced opponents to account for his dynamic ability both on offense and in the return game. The black and gold faithful should truly be thrilled about the potential to provide Brees with yet another offensive weapon at his disposal. And it just may be a critical piece to the puzzle in helping the team to again attain the pinnacle the game has to offer. Saints eyeing new offensive playmaker? |

Re: Saints eyeing new offensive playmaker?
Cooks? Or is he unavailable too?
Jets may want Cooks. I'd just get Ford for ILB and Matthews in second. |

Re: Saints eyeing new offensive playmaker?
Sorry for the heresy, but we were pretty much missing Sproles last season too. Time to mix it up a bit and go back to being a bit more unpredictable.

Re: Saints eyeing new offensive playmaker?
Sproles was a tailback. Lee and Beckam are WRs. I predict were picking Lee. Beckam will be gone and Payton loves USC or west coast guys.

Re: Saints eyeing new offensive playmaker?
I really hope Odell Beckham or Cook are still there, they can be dynamic as WR's and also help us out in the return game
