Mike Golic got cut last season. Not sure why we signed him to a 2 year deal.

Steve Hull Illinois, WR/SS/ST 6'1 198 4.56
three injury-filled seasons at safety (shoulder) moved back to WR per doctors orders and had a solid year. Big thing i believe for him is he played on all 4 units of special teams at Illi. |

Oh and by the way his commitment as a person...he would have graduated this spring. So I dont know where you get your facts from but they are totally off on this young man.

Re: Saints sign 12 undrafted free agents
I think if you're gonna lambast an UDFA for having an attitude or motivation problem, and you want to stick to the upstanding, solid, reliable known-quantity camp bodies, then you gotta be prepared to PAY FOR THEM. And they cost money.
But if you get 4 or 5 low-pick or UDFA guys on this team, who have minor "attitude problems" or dedication problems, or flaws, or slip ups.... Let's get real for a minute, none of these guys really have a character flaw of a huge honking Aaron Hernandez "red flag" type variety. They have the skills, you can coach them up -- but Loomis can also talk each of them DOWN to bare-bones, rock bottom league minimum and not a penny more! And if you get 2 or 3 or 4 of them to do that, then if enough of them do it then you've maybe saved a million or so bucks on the salary cap...and believe me, every penny counts these days. I think we Saints fans need to get used to seeing more picks and signings like this.....it's what they've always been doing, and we are gonna need a whole team of scrappy young diamonds-in-the-rough playing well beyond their supposed ceilings, to surround Drew, Graham, and our soon-to-be-paid studs on defense. The days of picking up the Joe Obvious Really Great All American Player for the Saints are pretty much over, because we can't afford them under the cap. We have to pick up a few "damaged goods" prospects, like Akiem Hicks from Canada, or "troubled" Carl Nicks, or Joe "I will sleep it off in the car" Morgan...the Saints thrive on those type of situations. |

Re: Saints sign 12 undrafted free agents
My 3 favorites from the 2014 UDFA pool:
Flanders Jr: - small college RB transfer from Oklahoma St with numerous records broken in college...love the thought of the Superdome chanting "Timmy! Timmy!". Uzo-Diribe: Good physical skills, and he also brings a lot of potential in the nickname department. I like 'Uzi'. Armstrong: if he can only make it to and from the practice field without pulling a hammy...this kid is about as injury-prone as I was in my short-tenured baseball career. But he shows resilience considering all those tweaks and pulls and bruises; that's gotta count for something. Lesser men (like myself) would have given up that dream by now...he has "Will & Determination" and you can't coach "Will & Determination". Small school dude, too. I'm a sucker for the small school guys. |
