Re: Sunseri highlights (Game tape vs A&M)
What I see is a player who is not very athletic, but he compensates for his lack of athletic ability by having freakishly good instincts and having a high football IQ.
I don't think Sunseri is a future starter or anything, but he can provide valuable depth and be a beast on special teams. Which, I mean, I think that is all you can realistically ask for out of a 5th round pick. Not a bad pick at all. Glad to have Sunseri as a member of the Saints. |
Re: Sunseri highlights (Game tape vs A&M)
while watching the draft, I heard an analyst say that Ryan's defense is complicated and he likes to have a player to make sure players are lined up correctly. He compared the pick to Jim Leonard when Ryan was in Buffalo. In a couple years he could be our safety that plays in the box and uses his head to make some smart football plays. He looks like he will be a consummate professional, and coming from Alabama (even though LSU fans don't want to admit it) you know he's been coached well and he always leaves it all on the field.

Re: Sunseri highlights (Game tape vs A&M)
I ain't making an assessment based on one game out of a whole college career. We have no idea what Bama's defensive scheme was, and we didn't get to see much for run support or much for coverage abilities in there, either. Too small of a sample size.
But he looks fast enough on the film, and he probably needs to strengthen up a bit more based on what I saw for his tackling in that game. Don't think he'll be a sure-fire starter at safety for a couple of more years if even then, but there's potential for special teams for him today moving forward. Gunner maybe? |
