Minny gets SB 2018 and NO NFL playoff expansion for now

UPDATE: Minnesota was awarded the bid for Superbowl LII in 2018. New Orleans made the final cut as Indianapolis was eliminated from contention after the second round of votes. Congrats to Minnesota for winning.

According to Ramon Vargas of the Advocate, Saints owner Tom Benson will be arriving in Atlanta in about 30 minutes to discuss with his fellow owners about the Superbowl LII bid for New Orleans.

The owners are expected to discuss expansion of the playoffs and the awarding of Superbowl in 2018. New Orleans has put in a strong bid for the 2018 Superowl as it also coincides with the city's tricentennial celebration.

There are reports that the owners are not expected to vote on NFL expansion until late fall 2014.
