Cameron Jordan’s star may be rocketing quickly, but the Saints defensive end, who managed a career-high 12.5 sacks last season to get a first-time invite to the Pro Bowl, is doing it all without the nutritional aids most 6-foot-4, 285-pound players rely on to block the snot out of lineman.

“No whey protein, no glucosamine, nothing,” says Jordan, the son of former Minnesota Vikings tight end Steve Jordan. “It’s just me—it’s 100 percent au naturel.”

But the young Jordan, the 24th overall pick in the 2011 draft, says he is trying to be more health conscious as he enters his fourth season with the Saints (the team also exercised a fifth-year option on the promising defensive end). “I’m always snacking, and fruit and veggies are a better option than Ho Hos and Rice Krispies bars, even though they are delicious,” he laughs.

Admittedly, though, sugary cereal bars still have a place in Jordan’s designated “candy pantry,” and he says he continually has to exercise self-restraint around French fries. “This off-season, I had way more than I should have, but now that I’m going back to work [in OTAs], I just had French fries for the first time in a week,” Jordan says. The verdict? “They were amazing.”

Re: Is Cam Jordan in the Right Place?

The thinnest and most fit I've ever been was when I lived in New Orleans.

Granted I was 15 and playing football, basketball and track for John Curtis, but the fact remains...

Re: Is Cam Jordan in the Right Place?

eat whatever you want. just get a bit more stout against the run. take Hicks run stuffing skills and mix it with Jordan's pass rushing and you have the perfect 34 DE. both just keep getting better ever year so we may just end up with two; so whatever they are just doing keep doing it, it's working.

i was lean and trim growing up in new orleans eating all that seafood. wants to put on weight come to new england and eat the food here. potatoes and everything fried and gallons of butter. bland bland bland

Capri sun is loaded with sugar - 18g refined sugar...

You're suppose to consume 40g refined sugar/2000 cal

As long as he's lean, mean, I don't care - he's got good measurables for a 5 tech defensive end...

Hicks is a 4 Tech DE/3 Tech Tackle; different player with different attack responsibilites...

If for some reason he is not I'm sure Payton and Ryan will put him into the right place if they thought he produce better. Coaches don't just put good players where they don't belong. The exception would be if someone got hurt and he was the only man they could put in there to fill in.

Yeah but it's media OTA day today. So there should be more info coming. Like how many times the restrooms were used.
