Rivers vs. Brees
If they franchise Brees they are forced to keep him, b/c no one\'s going to trade the picks and pay him top 5 money. Franchising could be dangerous. But I think that they do have to go to the kid, just like Lewis did in Cincy despite Kitna having a great year the year before. Eventually, you have to make the switch... or trade the number one pick if you think that Brees is the way to go. A transition tag may be better for SD - that way they get something (right?) but they still have the opportunity to move Brees.

A transition tag I could see. Not a franchise tag though. That is a huge leap of faith that some team wants him that bad.

Trust me with premium qb\'s in this league is a need and all you have to do is look at almost half of them and see that. Chicago??? Someone will take it a trade and pay the money. But I still don\'t see it going that way... team chemistry, you don\'t mess with it if its winning.
