this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; If we had picked Roethisberger, would we be in the same position we're in now? Could we have the same record as Pittsburgh? Is the Pittsburg QB better than ours? Not all at once please....

Pittsburgh has the number one D in the league and Roeth hasn\'t played all that great the last couple of weeks. With that being said, right now I would rather have Roeth than Brooks. I could probably list about 12-15 other qbs I would rather have also but you asked about Roeth.

But at least you would know Roeth could get better. Brooks\' window for improvement has closed. And roeth was a winner in college also. Has Brooks won on any level?

We can have the Brooks debate til we are all dead and buried. We have to play the cards we have been delt. You can\'t compare QB\'s playing on different teams for the fact that it has a lot to do with the elements around the QB not just the player himself. It doesn\'t matter who we have at QB if our line can not protect him and give him time or a defense that gives up as many points and yards... we aren\'t helping a QB at all that way.

Whats ironic is we were trading picks with Pittsburgh to get Vilma. When Ben slipped Pittsburgh called off the deal.

Yes, we would be in the same position if we had him. The main reason is that he would not be playing, Brooks would. Look at our history with young QB\'s and letting them go elsewhere. Not many have had GREAT success, but are having at least limited success and show a glimmer. Waiting to see what will happen with the one we dealt for McKenzie. I do like McKenzie however.

I tend to agree with those who suggest we would be no better. I think Unitas couldn\'t help us at QB. We simply have too many holes. Yet there are NO holes created by the Oline. I could probablly do the same as Duece, and I\'m 60.
