Jimmy Graham......
I know some people may not want to hear this but I am really tired of this Jimmy Graham stuff. I hope the Saints can find a partner to do some kind of sign and trade thing. Maybe some team would be willing to give up a 1st and 3rd next year and a 2nd Rounder the year after. Then the Saints should sign Jermichael Finley to a deal.

Re: Jimmy Graham......
um...no...JG is only gonna get better
|
Re: Jimmy Graham......
yes i do agree with you but what happens if he is not happy next year since the Saints dont want to pay him what he wants? then what ? he leaves for nothing
|
Re: Jimmy Graham......
No you absolutely do not. By appealing, graham is buying time to work out a long term deal.
|
Re: Jimmy Graham......
i guess we shall see
|
Re: Jimmy Graham......
That's what I am thinking as well; just gives them more time to work out a long-term deal...
Doesn't really how much the tag is for, no one wants to play under it |
Re: Jimmy Graham......
@AdamSchefter: Saints and Jimmy Graham closing in on long-term deal to make him highest-paid TE in NFL history. Now optimism deal done by Tues deadline.
Please, refrain from these emotional threads. None of us really know what's happening. It's the Brees scenario all over again, so let's try our best here. |
Re: Jimmy Graham......
but how much can the Saints really afford to give him? is it really going to be worth it if he doesnt show up when we need him again ?
|
Re: Jimmy Graham......
Graham already accounts for 7 mil and change against the cap and we have 1.5 or something in room. A long term deal will free up some room this year b/c it will be backloaded, like Byrd's contract.

All we can do is trust in Loomis/Benson to do what they think is best for the team |
Re: Jimmy Graham......
Jermichael Finley? No thanks. I'd rather play with a third tackle.

Re: Jimmy Graham......
Terrible OP. You want to get rid of one of our best players because he's got a contract situation that's not gone as smoothly as possible, and what's even worse you want to sign crappy ass Jermichael Finley? My god...

Re: Jimmy Graham......
I'm sorry, business or not, JG has come off as looking greedy IMHO. The saints took a chance on him and developed him into the TE he is now and he seems like he is biting the hand that feeds him. Take his stats and line them up against the games he faced a top 15 defense. Doesn't look to good now does it ? That being said, I believe he is the best TE in the NFL right now but still has ALOT to learn about being a TE.

This is nothing like the Drew Brees ordeal. JG is a great pass catching TE but he is no Drew Brees. |

Why would Cleveland trade Cameron and a 1st round pick for Graham?

Re: Jimmy Graham......
Sure, they'll backload it like they always do, and people will say how genius that is. Until a couple years go by and we have to release a bunch of players, and then everyone will will say "why did we let so and so get away?".
Sometimes you have to bite the bullet and make some sacrifices, but I'm becoming less impressed with the Saints' negotiating tactics as it seems almost all they do anymore is backload contracts. Stop overpaying people and you won't have to constantly push back all this money to delay the inevitable. |

Not too mention that with the salary cap going up, in later years we possibly could afford to do this now and not have to restructure as much down the road |
