Re: 2014 Saints Training Camp
I admit I didn't know we actually carry 5 backs on the final 53. I am not big on Cadet at all so my opinion on Flanders is altered especially if he can return kicks at all. We haven't had a good returner since Reggie and last year we were awful in the return game in my opinion and like I said I've seen enough of Cadet. And our track record with UFA running backs is spectacular. He was a free agent right? Could Payton and Loomis have done it again?

Re: 2014 Saints Training Camp
This RB Derrick Strozier looks really interesting. I think he could be a big threat to Cadet's roster spot.
Flanders looks incredibly, incredibly similar to Aaron Stecker. |
Re: 2014 Saints Training Camp
Anyone else making the trek to Greenbriar?!? I can see why it's floundered as a resort - it's in the middle of No Where, West Virginia!!!

Re: 2014 Saints Training Camp
From the morning practice:
Kenny is legit one of the funniest players to watch. Dude decked Joe Morgan (I think Joe slipped a little too) on a reverse, and straight knocked down a RB (cant remember who) on another play, while always giving guys credit. Byrd and Kenny is going to be so much fun to watch. Champ had a INT on a McCown ball. Very nice play. You can tell the DB's with their pads on are more physical. Pierre took some reps, spin moves and all. Brandon Cooks on a slip screen when he was in the slot was amazing. He literally went through the hole and went untouched 40+ yards to the endzone. Main person I saw get yelled at was Brian Dixon, not knowing exactly where to line up as a gunner for punt. Strozier was getting more and more reps, to be honest I cant recall Ingram getting many at all? Maybe 5? Lorig and Hill was getting reps at LS, to backup Justin. Cooks also looks to be the guy for KR and PR, with Morgan/Meachem going to be his backup. Corey White looked good with a few pass breakups. One of the best guys is Zach Strief when it comes to fan interactions. Stayed over 30 minutes later signing, chatting with everyone, thanking people for being there. Even did a duck face photo with a girl. I am so glad we re-signed him. |

Re: 2014 Saints Training Camp
Oh man, Brandin Cooks is gonna wreak so much havoc on defenses! Teams can put their best CB on Graham if they want but Colston, Stills, Cooks, etc. are gonna really test secondaries.

I just hate going there, seeing Falcons and Panthers (and Calvin Johnson and other sports) jerseys, hearing people say "The Saints arent my favorite team, but they are here"
And the autography ebay sellers. My goodness its crazy. |

No kidding...this is exactly the info we're wanting to hear... Seems Cooks will be transitioned into the offense while getting him more touches through the return game... Morgan is not making this team as his health can't be trusted... |

I also forgot to mention, when I talked with Vinnie Sunseri about training camp, he said Alabamas preseason is much harder then the Saints. |

Ryan Griffin shines with Drew Brees sidelined in New Orleans Saints' scrimmage | NOLA.com
Yeah, that's my boy...Tulane can be proud! |
Re: 2014 Saints Training Camp
The Saints weren’t keeping score in Saturday’s scrimmage. But it was a clear victory for the offense – especially considering Drew Brees was sidelined by an oblique strain. Backup QB Ryan Griffin was particularly impressive...The Saints’ run game was equally productive. And the defense was even flagged for 12 men on the field at one point, which led to some very vocal disappointment from coordinator Rob Ryan. - Mike Triplett

Re: 2014 Saints Training Camp
Meanwhile, Saints offensive tackle Zach Strief also compared rookie receiver Brandin Cooks to Colston (from a personality standpoint, not a physical one, since Cooks is 5-10, 189). “He carries himself like a much older player," Strief said. "You talk about a guy you’d like to come in and have an immediate impact, a lot of that is, ‘Is it too big?' Is the scene too big? Is it too big to get a pass from Drew Brees? Is it too fast? He acts like an eight-year vet, he really does. He’s very calm, cool and collected. He’s very Marques Colston-esque, personality-wise. He’s very quiet, just comes to work, all the things you want to see. I don’t know where we keep finding these receivers that don’t talk.”

Re: 2014 Saints Training Camp
Good news...
According to the 8 zillion tweets I read today the standouts in todays practice were Patrick Robinson - YES!!! Corey White - YES!!! Raphael Bush SJB Galette - business as usual. Robert Meachem (burned Lewis twice) Vacarro with back to back stonewalls on Ingram and Robinson More music to my ears, and it ain't Country Music! The shocker of the day... Cooks actually dropped a pass. Oh my, he isn't a robot. |
