Corey White has picked it up the last few days...

Re: 2014 Saints Training Camp
I followed Brandon Cooks for a while in college, very explosive. How is he looking for y'all?

Some in the press have already dubbed him the leading candidate for offensive rookie of the year. That being said, it remains to be seen how he'll do in real game situations, but he's been outstanding so far. |

Early on last season there were quite a few fans who wanted to run this young gun out of town. He has shown flashes to be a very productive corner. |

Mike Triplett Blog -
"Three guys who haven't been mentioned too often throughout training camp were singled out for making some nice plays Wednesday -- receiver Robert Meachem and rookie linebackers Khairi Fortt and Ronald Powell. Although younger receivers Brandin Cooks and Nick Toon stood out more earlier in camp, Meachem proved last year that he won't be easily removed from the lineup since he's so reliable as a blocker and deep-route runner. That battle for the fourth receiver job between Meachem and Toon will be compelling all summer. … As for Fortt and Powell, they've battled the age-old issue of trying to play at full speed while still learning and thinking too much. But as they get more comfortable, their athleticism is starting to show up more..." Contracts for Lofton, Hawthorne are handicapping the defense the way Will Smith, Sedrick Ellis and Roman Harper's contracts limited the defense; gotta get those younger, faster, stronger players on the field... |

Re: 2014 Saints Training Camp
Corey is back in the middle i bet. that is were he belongs. i understand the start of camp he was playing outside, since then he has moved back to his nickle and dime position. Prod has stepped in and showed he is ready to play, so that experiment came to end pretty quick. white needs more time before he is ready to try the outside again

"Rookie receiver Brandin Cooks is one of those guys who lets his play on the field do the talking for him. Luckily for the New Orleans Saints, Cooks has the volume cranked all the way up." - Mike Triplett
Source: New Orleans Saints' Brandin Cooks humble after big debut - ESPN Hand it to the Saints Staff, they looked like they hit a home run so far on this kid; really, really like his disposition, non-prima-donna attitude... |
Re: 2014 Saints Training Camp
ok White still has issue when he is chasing a play and has too track the ball. but i sure did not see any players below him on the depth chart that are going to push him.

Re: 2014 Saints Training Camp
"Cornerback Corey White's interception toward the end of Sunday's practice highlighted a dominant day for the secondary. And it was another nice moment for White, who can't be ruled out of the No. 2 cornerback competition, especially since Patrick Robinson missed the second half of Sunday's practice for an undisclosed reason. ... The Saints' defense won the day overall, especially during a series of hurry-up drills at the end of practice. First, quarterback Luke McCown and the starters went 4-and-out with three pass break-ups and a would-be sack by linebacker Parys Haralson. Then White intercepted Griffin when the second units were in. Each QB then got another crack, including Hail Mary attempts. McCown's Hail Mary attempt was batted down by tight end Jimmy Graham, who was moonlighting as a safety. Then Griffin found redemption with a Hail Mary touchdown pass to tight end Benjamin Watson (who was actually playing tight end)."

Warren is having a great camp. No ups and downs with this guy. I wonder what they do with him? roster spot? red-shirt him? PS?

Re: 2014 Saints Training Camp
more safeties than CB if need be.
I believe CB will be a high priority in next year draft. PRob and champ are already limping. to odds on favorite right now for the bottom of the first Trae Waynes, CB, Michigan State Jalen Mills, CB, LSU I am still keeping my eye on Ty Montgomery, WR, Stanford i really would like to see him to continue to improve. Cooks and TY together would be deadly. love his attitude after he catches the ball. YAC love it |
Re: 2014 Saints Training Camp
Really, really wanted CB Walt Aikens, Liberty who the Dolphins are converting to a safety - d'oh!!!
This guy is a true press corner and would thrive in Ryan's system... |

It's still very early, but Jean-Baptiste looks like a multi-year development project which is disappointing for a second round pick - the very reason why I didn't want to take him... |

McGriff is an excellent DB coach so maybe he can coach him up at least enough to contribute in a few packages. He just doesn't look fluid to me. Kinda stork like. Reminds me of Michael Hawthorne several years back. |

he was not my selection but i understand the gamble and why they took him. hell of a risk i admit. i am disappointed we stopped there at 1 CB. |
Re: 2014 Saints Training Camp
Well Miami is screwing up a perfectly good press corner in Walt Aikens down in Miami right now that I wanted in the fourth round (Miami took him with previous pick, Pierre Desir went the following pick; we took Fort which is fine, but he really was a third rounder)...
Despite the physical, punishment of the play, NFL careers really are delicate balance of chance and timing... |
