Re: Day 3 Play of the Day

Love seeing that! Going to be great to finally have a defense who can get 3 and outs consistently AND force turnovers. We might be looking at the best defense in team history.

And yes, I am old enough to remember the Dome Patrol

Re: Day 3 Play of the Day

Great play by champ and bush

Lorig needs to hold that ball better than that, he isn't going to get many chances and if he fumbles when he does he won't see the field

I think his strength is being a blocking FB, I could be wrong...

He actually has been splitting out wide a lot too, Lorig has. I asked him if its different, he said yes and he loves it.

Lorig is on a 4-year deal and if he wants all the money on it he better not drop it that easy!

You could not run on the Dome Patrol defenses but Wow that was a terrible secondary. Since we signed Byrd and Bailey i started thinking i dont remember the Saints EVER having a good secondary. When we won the Bowl our defense was opportunistic and could hold its own bur it was far from a dominant secondary. If Im wrong and weve had a great secondary before someone please list it here.

Re: Day 3 Play of the Day

The 2010 secondary was pretty good. Greer/Porter/Robinson/Jenkins/Harper/Sharper. People forget how good Malcolm Jenkins used to be. But even that group wasn't anything like what we had last year, and probably this year.

One of the Haslett teams (2004 maybe) had what should've been a good secondary. McKenzie, Ambrose and Thomas at corner. Unfortunately the safeties were Tebucky Jones and Jay Bellamy. Bellamy was a solid player but on his last legs at that point. Tebucky was just all-around terrible.

I liked some of the secondaries on the Ditka teams. They didn't have good stats because those teams were saddled by Ditka's general incompetence, but there were some decent players. I really liked the Tyronne Drakeford/Fred Weary/Ambrose combination and Sammy Knight was starting to come on as a big time player. Chad Cota was the weak point, but he wasn't really a bad player either. Those guys played their butts off but the rest of the defense was just so terrible it didn't make much difference.

Re: Day 3 Play of the Day

The REAL play was making that great yoink and putting the ball back in bounds. That's some focus right there.
