Injuries, losses painful for Saints star running back
By MARY FOSTER, AP Sports Writer NEW ORLEANS (AP) -- It's been a bad year for Deuce McAllister. The New Orleans Saints running back has had to contend with injuries and with losses which have hurt even more. The Saints planned their version of the West Coast Offense around McAllister, counting on his ability to grind out yards to keep the football in their hands and the march to the goal line steady. Instead, they have fallen behind in game after game and had to turn to the pass in a usually futile effort to catch up. No one has suffered more than McAllister. http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/news?slu...v=ap&type=lgns |

My only problem with Deuce this year has been his inability to pick up the blitz on passing downs. There have been many times where he either double-teamed a lineman, only to miss the blitzer, or misread the defense and completely miss the block altogether.

Deuce? A derogatory comment about DEUCE?
NEVER EVER EVER speak bad about Deuce, NEVER. He\'s awesome man. He\'s the greatest player ever. He\'s practically a hall-of-famer. Are you flipping crazy? Its the other 10 guys fault. Its that new turf\'s fault. He\'s a real leader. He should be coach. We should give him the biggest contract ever for a RB. He\'s got heart, he never quits. He has awesome field vision. LMAO NOTE: The above comments are sarcasm. They are directed at those who worship and praise Deuce no matter how many mistakes he makes or how much his play has regressed. I\'ll be the first to admit Deuce is having a terrible year. Fumbles have been extremely costly, and are just plain unacceptable. He\'s been running lackadaisical, and I\'m pretty sure the ol\' ankle has healed by now. I won\'t put it all on him, as our Oline is absolutely garbage. We should have left Bentley put, and kept ol\' Jerry.

In all fairness to Deuce, the whole offense was changed. They went to a two tight end offense and got rid of one of the best run blockers in the league. Deuce complained about it IN THE OFFSEASON, before the regular season got under way and McCarthy said, \"I know he is upset, but we feel this offense gives us the best chance to win and get our weapons on the field. He is a great player so of course we have to listen to him a little bit. I am sure he will come around though.\" Then the offense went out, promptly loused it up all year, Deuce was right, got hurt, and so I can guarantee we are not seeing his full effort this year. Now, this may say something about his character, but if I tell my boss before the fiscal year a plan is not gonna work and doesn\'t fit my skills, and he forces on me anyway and we lose money, I damn sure am not gonna want the blame heaped on me. And I damn sure am not gonna wanna put myself at more risk on a sinking ship. So let\'s remember that while we criticize Deuce. He\'s no nostradamus, but he was right on about this one.

That\'s great BNB, but does your job have linebackers smearing you before you hit the line of scrimmage? Are you risking a greater chance of your injury due to incompetence by those leading you and those around you?
So in essence, if your boss came to you and said here is some toilet paper, I know we use it for crap but I want you to make musical instruments out of it and they better be good and we better make money, you would be okay with that? Then I guess I am glad I have that choice, and glad Deuce does too. |

Or LaDanian Tomlinson, or Barry Sanders, or Marshal Faulk, or Robert Smith or Curtis Martin, or many other RB\'s that were on teams with poor O-lines. He flat out underachieved this year. He often missed blocks, which isn\'t the O-line\'s fault. He too often mis-read the hole when there actually was one. He looked slow, indecisive, and lumbering. He was run down from behind on a few occasions just as he was late last year. He dropped easy swing passes. He\'s developing a fumbling problem. He\'s becoming injury prone. He pouts on the sidelines. He doesn\'t take conditioning seriously (a knock that goes back to the Ole Miss days). While I doubt anyone would disagree that he\'s potentially our best player, he is quite moody and does have some on-field issues that too many overlook. Perhaps a new staff may re-ignite the fires and he returns to 2001/2002 form when there was no doubt he was a top 5 back. Right now I\'d say he\'s in the 5-10 range. |

...whatever happened in the offseason (like every year it seems), Dulymus is not happy, and he\'s not playing like in year\'s past. Now, if Dulymus doesn\'t want to risk injury, or his heart is not in it, I bet Ricky\'s bong has more than 1 straw.. |
