Re: So we signed Beckhum...
Remember in 09 how we had Shockley, Darnell dinkins and David Thomas on the field at the same time vs patriots
In the red zone the patriots defense completely forgot about dinkins because of all the other weapons - easy TD SP also looks like he wants to run that 2 or 3 TE stretch running play because it had success vs rams |

Re: So we signed Beckhum...
I just can't imagine us keeping 4 TE's on the active roster. 3 on the roster and 1 or even 2 on the practice squad, yeah that could happen. But barring injuries Graham/Watson/Hill is pretty much set in stone.
Besides anybody we're signing this late in the game barely has a snowball's chance anyway. He doesn't have enough time to learn the playbook. He's just hoping to make a couple of paychecks and get something on film so another team will be interested. |

Re: So we signed Beckhum...
If the Saints truly want to have a balanced attack and run the ball, they will have to keep 4 TE's on the roster. Jimmy is a great weapon. He's not a blocker. Watson is average and aging. Hill is a tweener type. They need someone to do the dirty work. If healthy, Jacobs has a shot. That being said, and with the injuries mounting, it will be tough for 4 to make it. Jacobs will easily make the PS and can be brought up if need be.

Re: So we signed Beckhum...
One player needs to be able to play TE and FB. Then we could save a spot for another player.

Ben Watson is one of the best run blocking TEs in the league. He is getting older but even last season, PFF graded him out as number 8th out of 64. Josh Hill rated 16th. |

He never stops looking. Maybe he saw the kid and wanted a look.
Better to have and not need than to need and not have. |
