Saints have to keep all three QBs

Luke plays as good to me as some low end nfl starters an Griffin is close also.Ok so no 4th te or 6th wr.Point is Saints lucky to have two good backups an with Drew at age 35 odds are he could miss a few games the next two to three years.Much more easy to find good Wr an Te off wavier wire as compared to how hard it is to find good qbs. Also Kilgore looks ok as good as canfield ever looked to me. I would be ok to see Saints put kilgore on an off practice squad. The big fact is Drew is 35 not 30 or 25 an i think the Saints could win with Luke or Griffin.:

IMO, the only way the Saints keep 2 back-up QBs is if there is a concern over Brees' oblique injury not fully healed.

And I am thinking this. May be the case.
I am encouraged seeing them get all this extra work. While I don't think either QB is a legit starter in this league I do think if Brees went down for a few games Griffin or Luke could at the very least keep us respectable while Drew heals.

I'm feeling Griffin right now. Especially after that bomb to Morgan.

We've kept 3 before, seems smart to me. Both guys looked good tonite and together they make an insurance package the gecko would be jealous of.

The keeping of three last year was out of necessity because Griffin was going be signed off the practice squad by the Rams. He will not make the practice squad this year. Also he wouldn't make waivers if he were cut. So that option is out.

Smart money says to cut McCown in the final cut. The Saints will not have to guarantee his contract for the year if he's not on the roster for the 1st game. It's unlikely that a team will sign him to a free agent contract until some starting QB goes down. Keep him on speed dial if a issue arises.

Getting to the bottom line is that Luke McCown would be a starting QB in this league if he had the talent to do so. Griffin has so much upside that some team will try to tap him as a starting QB if they get the chance. And unfortunately the 3rd QB on the roster can really do nothing on the 53 man roster but hold a clipboard or be deactivated every week.

So give the slot to the 6th WR or the 4th TE or the extra safety that could be used on special teams. Make Griffin the #2 QB. He has clearly shown that he can handle the load if called.

Super Bowl Championships: New Orleans Saints:1, Carolina:0, Atlanta Chokers: STILL ZERO

Only Atlanta choked in an unchokable situation... Life is definitely good.

I'm with this.
Just because they both could do the job doesn't mean we have to keep both. Are we really worried about facing McCown if some team picks him up? And the playbook thing is overrated.

I think Griffin has a slight edge on Luke only cus he has a ton of upside and he is cheaper. Also he has looked a little better overall.

The young Griff is impressive and McCown has done nothing to hurt himself. It will be interesting to see what happens down the line.

I think we have to keep them both, especially with Brees still injured right now. That's a nagging injury that could crop up again sometime during the season.
