Young Guys Making Names for Themselves, Pushing Veterans. Saints Preseason Week 2 Review

Once again the Saints flicked on the Friday Night Lights and completed their second preseason game of the 2014 season with a victory.

We move to 2-0 during the preseason (a meaningless stat, but) and there was a lot of good, and bad, performances to go over from last night’s game.

Drew Brees, Jahri Evans and Ben Grubbs once again did not start which allowed more time for the young players to make names for themselves along the offensive line while the battle for back up quarterback is heating up.

Continuing last week’s theme we will go over the “stars” of the game with the good, the bad and the ugly. Film study will conclude today’s review of the game.

"A Veteran is someone who, at one point in his life, wrote a blank check made payable to "The United States of America" for an amount of "up to and including my life."

Nice find 656.

Glad to see the props for White.

Corey White: 3 tackles. I have to give White props. The Saints have played a lot of soft zone coverage, and when they have played man they haven’t pressed. With all of this in mind, White looked good while being targeted early on. I like what I saw last night, and he was also willing to lay the wood. He gave up a TD early on, but he had solid coverage and it was a perfect throw and catch by the QB/WR. I’m still not sold on him as a the number 2 corner, and still think Robinson and/or Bailey takes this spot, but he showed again as he did in last year’s playoffs that he can be solid when called upon.

I've got nothing against Corey white because he is one of the most physical cornerbacks I've seen on our team, but he really needs to work on his hands

He continually struggles making a play on the ball, I've only just gotten over him fumbling the ball through the end zone after a pick and then he bats one up in the air which is then caught by the titans receiver

Jones isn't impressing anyone in the preseason. But he sure needs to now.

white still needs to work on trailing a WR. same issue as last year. with the play in front of him he has improved every year. remember this is only his third year and i for one am looking for him to make improvements by leap and bounds this year.

Sunseri - one game does not cut it. see ya on the field next week. still #6 on my depth chart

Knox is an upstart. gotta tip your hat to the kid. so far he has looked better than either of our draft picks at LB.
