Re: Preseason Buzzkill
Defensive perspective (For what ever a preseason evaluation is worth vs regular season)
2013 Week 1 KC 215 yards Week 2 Oak 185 yards Week 3 Hou 496 yards Week 4 Mia 289 yards Ave total yards allowed/ game = 295 Meaning when compared to the first 2 games of the 2014 preseason? Absolutely nothing Gallette was 6th in the league in sacks last year, serviceable at best as a run defender. His value is weighed heavily by what role you see want to see him in. He is sort of akin to a defensive Jimmy Graham (know its a stretch) If you are looking for a pass rusher or catcher then they are your men, if you want a blocker or run defender you may want to consider other options. |

Re: Preseason Buzzkill
How do you label your article a buzzkill and then wrap it up by saying we could go undefeated with the players he was criticizing? Yeah, whatever........

The only thing the preseason is good for is individual talent evaluation. That being said, I am excited to see this upcoming game. Our starters should be playing and we are going against a good team in their house. |

Re: Preseason Buzzkill
I'm nervous about our D too. If we can be stout vs the run I think we have enough pass rush to force some quick throws and we've got some DBs who can actually make INTs now. Byrd and Bailey have great hands and we haven't seen them yet. I didn't need to see Bailey in preseason but I also didn't expect to need him to start which I think he may do. I see a mediocre LB core and overall a D-line you can run on. Like the writer said this year is SB Champion or bust. Luckily I forsee the best offense in football and a D that's good enough. I know we want a record that gives us Seattle in the Dome in the playoffs. And at home I like our chances.
