IF Haslet stays? Plan B
Well if reports are true that Haz is 50/50 to keep his job, I think I may know plan B. Or at least this is what I think Tom should do.
1. Fire (or demote) Loomis. Bring in a new GM (like Pioli or Savage). Give the GM a year to settle in, evaluate the situation and then in 2006 hire/fire/keep whoever he wants to. BUT... he has to do 2, 3 and 4. 2. Fire Venturi. A. Because he deserves it. B. Because if he doesn't Saints fans will revolt. Bring in anybody who has had success anywhere/anytime. 3. Fire McCarthy. Mike just doesn't get it. He seems to force his system on his players instead of letting his players skills influence his system. And he has to be the most predictable play-caller of all time. 4. Replace Brooks. IF POSSIBLE, sign Brees, or nab a Kitna, Dilfer, Warner type and grab a youngster to develop. This team needs an identity change. Brooks is probably as unhappy with the fans as they are with him. We need one of those "trades that helps both sides". 5. Draft-SLB, WLB, OG, FS, SS 6. Free Agency-DT (nose), RT, WR (possession type), LT (if stud is availbale, overpay if necessary) Of course if Riley continues his career long habit of good-year/bad-year he may approach pro-bowl status next year. |

You forgot to get rid of Wayne (Grab em/Hold em) Gandy. Draft a Stud Offensive Tackle in 2-3 round. Move Stinchcomb to left Guard, Riley to Left Tackle, Folau to Right Tackle, Jacox Center, and Bently at Right Guard(where he belongs in the first place).

I agree that bringing in a new GM, OC, and DC could solve problems. I just don\'t think Jim should get a pass, although he likely will. It seems he\'s lost the confidence of his entire team. And yes, it is time for Brooks to go. I\'ve been a strong supporter of Aaron, but this just isn\'t the place for him to be. Too damn streaky.

I think we should concentrate on where we are bad first -- in otherwords keep Brooks next year. He has not been the biggest problem and I think we should waste our limited draft choices and free agent cap dollars on our biggest weakness. Which means find a true shutdown corner ( I am fairly happy with McKenzie to date), find a top notch linebacker, and work on our offensive line.

And let\'s not forget, that running back of ours needs to be signed LONG TERM before it\'s too late. I mean, who wants to stay on a losing team???

You could\'nt be more right Whodi !!!
But if we could not fall behind so quick and so often, we might be singing a different tune. I want Mcarthy gone too, however I think the offence has been kinda forced to get one dimensional. It would be nice to see what kind of game he calls when we have a lead. If memory serves he has an annoying knack of being too conservative. However this year we haven\'t even had an opportunity to see if his mindset has changed. Other than the giants game last year, and a couple of Falcons games,I don\'t think we have really ran away with too many games during his tenure. But he has put very high scoring offences on the field. Over the last 5 seasons I would hazard a guess that the saints are in the top 8, which translates as the top 25% of the league. What this team really needs is to come out the gates quick, if we can do this, and still be caught, then I will wholeheartedly endorse sweeping Mike out of town. In the meantime lets see if our first quarter stats don\'t end up in the history books as the most lopsided everby a saints team |

Keep Haslett.
Keep Brooks. Fire Venturi and bring in Sam Mills. Fire McCarthy and bring in Philly QB coach Pat Shurmur. Draft DB, LB, OL. My question is what to do about Sullivan. Super catch-22 here. Cut him and take a huge cap hit or keep him around for another year and hope a new defensive coordinator can turn him around. The same question for Stinchcomb. With all the problems on the o-line and this guy can\'t see the field? |
