if your looking at trade targets please be talking ILB that is solid in coverage. one you can rotate in and out with what we got. thinking along the lines of another Parys Haralson, type. hmmm i wonder how he would work out at ILB on passing downs if some one else steps up shows the skill set for pass coverage on the outside? |

Re: What would you take for Griffin?
I have turned a new leaf on Griffin and don't think he'll make the team. Why would you trade for him when you think the Saints are going to cut him out right?

Re: What would you take for Griffin?
I think we're gonna keep Griffin and cut McCown. Keep him.

Re: What would you take for Griffin?
based on his performance...?
I see us going with Luke and not keeping Griffin at all. He didn't show anything to me so far he could cut it as a starter or even a legit 2nd string back up if we don't have one. That is the only 2 reasons to give up anything for QB and I just don't see Griffin fitting in at either of them for any team at this point in the season. If someone picks him up let them. I don't have a problem with someone having our scraps. You only have so many rosters spots and why trade for players now when you might as well sit tight until cuts happen. |

Right now I would not entertain the idea..........right before the close of camp I might talk to suitors.

Re: What would you take for Griffin?
One thing that nobody's mentioned, in the 5 pages of the other QB thread and the 3 pages of this one.
You're lining up to kick a game-winning field goal with the playoffs or more on the line (let's say maybe it's on the road, in Philly, in the wildcard round? Or maybe it's in overtime, in the NFC Championship game, or maybe a long, momentum-changing, early FG attempt when you are behind in the Super Bowl!). Who do you want holding the ball, on that kick? The seasoned vet with ice water in his veins, or the young kid from Tulane? Historically, in the Payton era, a young "project" #2 QB like we had in Chase Daniel was more the exception rather than the rule.... I get the impression that Payton sorta likes his backup QB/field goal holder/clipboard holder to be someone older, a veteran, who can see things in the Polaroids and add to the discussions on the sidelines or in the film room, give you another set of eyes. Not sure if Griffin gives you that dimension or not. That's why in my gut I'm inclined to think that McCown stays, or equally likely we keep all 3. |

Re: What would you take for Griffin?
Morstead was the holder before we signed McCown wasn't he?

Re: What would you take for Griffin?
I know Chase did it when he was here. Brunell did it before that. I think Morstead was only holding as a stopgap measure; I don't remember him doing it very frequently or for very long. It's weird because nowadays just as many punters out there probably hold on field goals as QB's. So for special teams holder I guess it's a choice between Luke "laces out in Seattle" McCown and Thomas "drops the snapped ball that hits him right on his hands in Seattle" Morstead. I don't know what to make of that choice!
