Tanner's back...again

The New Orleans Saints placed wide receiver Andy Tanner, offensive tackle Ty Nsekhe and defensive back Ty Zimmerman on injured reserve Tuesday.

All three were waived on Monday and were not claimed by any teams, allowing them to revert back to injured reserve with the Saints.

The Saints will retain their rights through the year unless they are released from injured reserve with an injury settlement. They won't count against the active roster limit.

For the people who still like to say Benson is cheap all the time, this is a good example to the contrary. These 3 players could've been just cut and forgotten about. Now they'll get paid for the year, or at least get an injury settlement. It's a classy-as-hell thing to do.

It means we have to pay him. I'm not cold and heartless, but damn. 4 years not contributing on-field? Why can't the front office do that for all the posters on B&G?

While he was on the practice squad he was contributing, and not making jack squat.

I read somewhere a year or two ago that the practice squad guys make 80k. Not sure if that is accurate and I done remember the source, but if true, 80k to be on the practice squad doesn't suck pond water...

I think the minimum is like $6,000/week, so if you were on the practice squad all season that would be $102,000.
