It is disappointing to start 0 & 1. It puts you behind the Seahawks, 49ers, Panthers, Falcons....well you get the idea.

I give credit to the Defense for the play on Colston more-so than him fumbling, but we are splitting hairs here... |
Re: I am sure the sky will be falling around here
We need to win on the road. I can't say it enough. Cleveland & Minnesota looked good today. And the Panthers are winning without Newton.

We can go 15-1 ... IF WE RUN THE DAMN BALL

I hope you're joking about Joe Horn. Playing a few games for the Falcons doesn't take away what he did for us. We didn't re-sign him and he went where somebody would employ him. He knows where his allegiance is. |
Re: I am sure the sky will be falling around here
The Saints losing always ruins my week.
|
Re: I am sure the sky will be falling around here
Yes, losing sucks, especially against the turds but it's the way we lost that gets me the most. The complete lack of defense is just mind boggling. It stunk from top to bottom, game plan to execution.

How many fumbles has Colston had in the last few years? Side-note: I loved Ivory. |

It must be a strange day
The Saints loose and Roman Harper has a interception Its the end times |
Re: I am sure the sky will be falling around here
Think about this, in 2012 colston did the exact same thing
Caught a slant pass in overtime and fumbled, only difference was Jimmy Graham recovered it in field goal range The defense played terrible, but colston had the chance to save it and screwed it up instead Settling for 2 field goals killed us to begin with but cam Jordan and galette better start playing like they are being paid to do |

No fumble is a good fumble regardless of the time it occurs. We can't look at the last play and say "hey this is why we lost right here, this last play". There was an entire game before that fumble. Going to go back to work and eat crow... I boasted about the Saints D and we are the worst in the league. Yes, statically we will be the worst D in scoring and yards after week 1... not a good feeling. |

I agree 100%. I am not blaming the loss on Colston. It is a part but not the whole. I blame it on the D. Period paragraph! Had the D stopped anything, we wouldn't have been in the situation to begin with. |
Re: I am sure the sky will be falling around here
I dont think the stats tell the story on all of Colstons fumbles
He is often catching in heavy traffic and taking big hits while receiving, its not like Drew is scarred of putting a hospital pass into his infield receivers |

"Colston > Horn everyday of the week and twice on Sunday"... What does this mean? I'm not being sarcastic, I really have no idea what you are saying. You have your answer on how many times he's fumbles from CharityMike, so I don't need to repeat that. And also, I loved Ivory too. But a lot of people hated on him for his fumbles, even though he actually fumbles less than Colston and played a position that lends itself to such occurrences far more often. The point was that if we can't blame Colston's fumble on himself then we can't blame anyone for a fumble. He had one hand on the ball and didn't have even have it against his chest. He was swinging his arm out, which is what he always does. |
Re: I am sure the sky will be falling around here
I'll end the controversay here of who to blame:
DEFENSE Seriously, Matt Ryan and Atl had the ball with 26 seconds left in the first half on their 20 yard line. Two plays later they were in striking distance, got a field goal. That's when I started to worry. Numerous WIDE OPEN receivers across the middle ALL DAT LONG. No defensive adjustments. Weak defensive scheme and poor coaching in-game adjustments (none). 2012 style tackling on the field. Sometimes 5 missed tackles. DB's looked stoned and out of position. D-line was sad at best. SAD! Colston was NOTHING compared to the non-performance of the defense. Brees? Not close. Offense had game, defense was stoned. As the game progressed we simply couldn't stop 'em. Worried? Not right now. We have the talent and coach to make adjustments. It's a long long long season. |
Re: I am sure the sky will be falling around here
I think most people are worried if we hold a lead with around 90 seconds to go. The Seahawks or a fully fit 49ers team are fans are far more confident of seeing the game out

His amount of fumbles are a lot for a receiver. If a receiver gets 10 touches in a game it's big news. If a running back gets 10 touches, he's a third down back. |
Re: I am sure the sky will be falling around here
Actually, in the first half the Byrd turnover was the only real difference maker. In the second half, not being able to get a stop upfront or in the backfield was the difference maker.
There were a handful of problems on offense -- but, those will be corrected. Speaking of corrections, I have a feeling that RR is going to be chewing some tail on the plane ride home. |
Re: I am sure the sky will be falling around here
I blame Mike Greenburg (sp?) from Mike and Mike. I just remembered he picked the Saints for the Superbowl. There's a reason his picks have #kod attached. We may not win a game all year. :P

Re: I am sure the sky will be falling around here
Overall our offense looked great. The turnovers hurt bad, but we moved the ball at will and did so in whatever fashion we felt like. I just still can't believe how lifeless this defense looked. It seems like everytime we think we're going to have a dominant D we suck. And when we have low expectations they are good, kind of like last year.
I hope very badly that this was an aberration. 568 is a big number for an aberration, but stranger things have happened. |
Re: I am sure the sky will be falling around here
Well I worry some, Atlanta just give every team in the NFL the blueprint when we play that style of D. Ryan need to take care of this quick because it could lead to a domino effect. It was very poor showing on the D and Ryan.

Beware the gravity slam.

Re: I am sure the sky will be falling around here
I blame the def. line coach on his late rotation with players & their conditioning:defensive line being so quick to fatigue
|
Re: I am sure the sky will be falling around here
Not worried?
I am. P-rob and shaky linebackers.... |
