Re: Do we bring Champ back??
What was so awful about our coverage was how often we rushed only 4 guys and Ryan delivered very quickly to wide open WRs. It's true that those guys are good but when we've got 7 guys back in coverage they've gotta hold up longer than that.

Re: Do we bring Champ back??
there is no one to bring in. we are stuck with what we have, and they will not all the sudden get any better. Passing teams will kill us, look at who we have to face and tell me we can stop them?

I bet Champ had to chuckle as he watched the defense he didn't make.

Re: Do we bring Champ back??
Nah, we just put Patrick Robinson up for trade or just flat out cut him right now. That should send a nice message that we won't tolerate that kind of play, and you'd better step up.

Re: Do we bring Champ back??
The problem with our defensive secondary is not personnel, its systemic.
Bringing Champ Baily in for anything other than depth and putting him on the field, 20 yards off a receiver, telling him to focus on turnovers and forgetting the fundamentals of tackling will get you the same exact outcome that we saw from Robinson, Lewis, White, Vaccaro, and Byrd. Keenan Lewis, our nearly shut down corner of 2013 allowed 6 of 7 receptions. Kenny Vaccaro, our best form tackler from 2013 had 6 missed tackles. Our talent is a whole lot better than our format and getting rid of Patrick Robinson doesn't change or address the other 50 goddamned problems that happened Sunday. |
Re: Do we bring Champ back??
In my opinion, the player in the secondary that I was most let down by was not Robinson. That honor goes to Mr. Vaccaro - granted my expectations were pretty high regarding him.
