this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; My other point is this... We have definitive proof what happens when you don't worry about the clock and score the TD quickly. The other team has time to score and win the game - They did win the last ...

Re: Clock management at end of regualtion
Last I checked they were trying to score a TD. TD's aren't guaranteed. You score them when you can.

Exactly what I thought, I think the running out of bounds could have been handled better seen as we had 3 timeouts, but you get a TD when you can, there would have been a larger uproar if we took time off the clock and failed to get a TD anyway

There is a ton of difference in needing a FG to tie or win and needing a TD. I guarantee you there wasn't a Saints player, coach or fan that thought that after the Saints scored the go ahead TD that the defense wasn't going to stop the failclowns. |

A lot went on between our score and their victory. Two possessions by Atlanta, a possession by the Saints, a fumble. Everyone remember the clock hitting 00:00 and the game tied? Difficult to convince a rational person that clock management caused a loss in a game that was tied at the end of regulation. One could however quite easily come to the conclusion that defense allowed them to catch up, and a fumble in OT put them in position to win with e FG... Clock management however isn't a root cause. Somehow a football team can score too fast but in highschool with a date in the back seat there was no such thing. You get it when you can get it, cause if you miss it, you cant get it back. ![]() |
