Former Saint Jabari Greer Announces Retirement
Thanks for the memories Greer, another guy that was instrumental for our team and our Superbowl Season.
Wished the guy could have stayed in his prime a little longer, he and Keenan Lewis would have formed an amazing CB duo. Jabari Greer Former New Orleans Saints cornerback Jabari Greer officially ended his 10-year career Thursday morning by announcing his retirement on ESPN's "First Take" where he served as a guest analyst. Greer was asked about being a free agent during the last few seconds of Thursday's show and what his options were for the future. Greer sipped out of a white coffee cup while flashing his Super Bowl XLIV ring and the answer was written in black ink reading, "RETIRED." Greer then winked to the camera and said, "Had a blast." The Saints signed Greer as an unrestricted free agent leading up to the 2009 season after spending five years in Buffalo. Greer's acquisition was a vital piece to the team's success that season and beyond as the cornerback helped lead the Saints to a Super Bowl XLIV championship in his first year in New Orleans. Greer's career essentially came to a close in 2013 where he sustained a knee injury against the 49ers in Week 11 and landed on injured reserve. The Saints released Greer in February in a wave of veteran cuts. Greer intercepted nine passes during his five years with the Saints as he served as the team's shutdown cornerback for much of his time with the Saints. Overall, Greer tallied 413 total tackles, 13 interceptions (four returned for touchdowns), two sacks, two forced fumbles and one fumble recovery. |

Greer was part of the culture change in the Saints organization. I wish him the best in where ever he chooses to go from here.
