Re: secondary
I bash Lofton because of his no-cover skills, I praise his hustle and for the most part his tackling, he and Hawthorn are not a good paired together. Last season the DB.s and front 4 masked their lack of lb. support. We don't have the lb.'s to run a true 3-4 which I think we would be better off with although we do have the players for a 4-3 but would be thin there, it's kind of like damned if you do damned if you don't. The 3-3-5 with a SS sitting down low in the box will help but most of our SS are a little light in the butt. Now enter Baptiste, I know he was drafted(2nd round I might add) I would make him a roving SS to do that job, the guy is big, tall, fast but if he hits like a mack truck he could be perfect. I wish we had that 3rd round pick back.

Ah yes, the Shanle interception! I remember that! I will tell my grandchildren about it someday. That, and I'll also be telling them to be on the lookout for Halley's Comet, which returns in 2061.

I think the point I'm getting at is when in zone coverage, other linebackers at least attempt to make a play on the ball - it always seems like ours are always chasing the receiver after the catch |

(I was just pickin nits) It's still not very many so your point is still valid. |
Re: secondary
Here's a cool fact about our secondary (or LBers, entire defense, whatever) after WEEK 3:
Tied for last with 0 Int's with 5 other teams: KC, MIA, NYJ, PIT, & SD We are dead last in forced turnovers with 1. You know who is tied with multiple other teams for 2nd-to-last in forced turnovers with 2? NY Jets. NY Jets Defense run by...Rob Ryan. Isn't it ironic, don't you think? |
