O-Line

The Saints O-Line is definitely not the same since Aaron Kromer left. I'm not sure if Ingalls installed new blocking/protection schemes or what, but Drew definitely doesnt have the time like he used to. Yes, our run game has gotten MUCH better, so maybe that's the trade-off.

It's kind of strange to be honest, on the first two drives where our offense was clicking, the holes we were opening for Khiry were huge, plus drew had tons of time

After that our line got man handled for much of the game

Not sure we need a better offensive line coach than we need younger, faster, stronger talent there...

Strief is the poster child for over achievement...

Grubbs was a consolation signing where we'd done better keeping Nicks...

Goodwin's age is really showing now...

Evans is not dominating as he used to, also because of age...

Armstead is the anchor on which to build the team, but he may actually be an All-Pro Right Tackle now...

Lelito is the only depth we have on the O-Line and he was unable to unseat Goodwin (though there may have been some veteran politics involved with that competition; a training camp interview with Jahri Evans sure created those questions)...

Not saying Aaron Kromer isn't a great O-Line coach, but talent makes you look better...

Dat snap tho'. I think Lelito does a good job cross-training for basically all O-Line roles.

You also have to credit the Vikes for the D.

I don't think we have the worlds greatest line but they're doing pretty good right now. They are susceptible to the thoroughbred pass rushers but then again, who isn't? I've been very pleased at their blocking in the run game and I still think they give brees enough time most of the time to get rid of the ball. That's really all you can ask for.

yep the vikings have spent the past few years rebuilding that DL. that is why you see Kevin Williams and the others playing else where now. they have done a great job.

our OL does need some youth for sure. time appears to be running out for a few of them

Yes, plus they showed a lot of different blitz packages.

Drew checked off nicely most of the time (except on the sack/personal foul).

On the one check Rhonde Barber actually correctly commented on it- You could hear Brees say "Jimmy, Ohio, Omaha!" and then Graham released and caught a 5-6 yard pass right off the line.

sidenote- Barber was awful. I actually turned the sound down. On the personal foul he even said 'hate to see that called'.
