Re: Saints Not Giving Up on CB Patrick Robinson, Despite His Struggles
SEE, this is what a CLASS ORGANIZATION does. Instead of throwing him totally under the bus, you give him a pep talk and put the ball back in his corner, metaphorically, where he controls his own destiny and fate. What Patrick Robinson wants to do personally -- to bounce back and be a starter again -- it CAN be done. People have done it. Payton can still be mad at him, Payton can still be making plans to go forward without him, he is STILL in the doghouse. But at least the "Prob" has got a chance and some motivation to fix himself....
For better or worse, Payton kinda needs him right now, we have no depth, at least temporarily...it's a mess. Unfortunately Prob still has one year left on his deal. $1.2825 million + some chunk of his guarantee, is probably too much to pay for someone who only runs down the field on punt returns. There is a chance (albeit slim) that P-rob could catch on somewhere else. So this way with this pep talk, we can at least try and get SOMETHING worthwhile out of Prob, besides garbage, while he's still here. I love how Payton handled it. PS I don't have time to look it all up, but I'm pretty sure, that at least some of those CB guys on that list who struggled and came back to be starters, did their comebacks for different teams besides the ones they started out on. So I still kinda feel like P-Rob is pretty much gone pecan. |

Re: Saints Not Giving Up on CB Patrick Robinson, Despite His Struggles
Agreed. If we were playing the same style of defense we were last year I think he would be solid. Zone defense requires quick thinking and adjustment. That's just not in his game. On the right team, in the right defensive scheme, I still think he could be a solid piece. But his time with the Saints is probably all but gone.
