Obviously it is hard to follow a great QB, but off the top of my head, some effective replacements at the QB position:
Montana - Young (which you already mentioned)
Manning - Luck
Farve - Rodgers
Majkowski - Favre
Jaworski - Cunningham
Bledsoe - Brady (turned out even better)
Lamonica - Stabler

There are others that could be mentioned as well...

In any case, I wouldn't mind seeing Griffin here... the young man needs a change of scenery, and letting his knee heal. I compare Griffin's situation in DC with the situation Ricky Williams was pulled into when Ditka brought him to NO: expected to be the savior of the franchise, then run aground and back-stabbed by the HC.

The only problem I see with bringing Griffin to NO, is that Drew still has a few years left, and I don't think Griffin would stay more than 2-3 years on the bench without someone giving him the chance to start.

I will also say, when Griffin came out of college, I didn't think he was all that, but I thought he had the physical tools and accuracy to be successful, had he landed in a decent place, which was not the case.

From what I've seen he's not significantly better than Ryan Griffin.

And as stated, he's not gonna sit for 4 years waiting for Drew to retire.

I have to disagree with that. He's significantly better then Ryan Griffin.

So...the winner...by a knockout...RG1 over RG3.
