RGIII as Drew's Successor ?
Good quarterbacks are hard to come by. Great ones are especially rare and Elite passers are a once in a lifetime thing. As saints fans we know this is all too true. That is why it is all too important that we secure the future after Drew and possibly even Loomis.
Drew has been reliable to say the least , as far as yardage and completion percentage are concerned he is light years ahead of other elite passers. Perhaps longevity will be on his side , but Father Time bests us all eventually. Playing to 45 would be a challenge especially considering the amount of times he would've thrown over another decade. But just in case , it may be time to secure the future. RGIII has struggled in his past two seasons greatly , but Saints fans haven't forgotten what this kid looked like in his debut at the super dome. He appears to be on the fringe of leaving the franchise if not the end of this season , when his rookie contract is expired. We could offer him tons. A safe haven to perfect his craft while Drew is finishing his glory days. And the return would be an absolute freak with a laser for an Arm and Cooks like speed at QB for our future. That in itself would open up this offense like none other. Maybe I'm too early or anxious , but let's be honest , we're not getting anywhere close enough to pick a legit follow up. This may be the only opportunity we get in the next 5 years to do so. |
You Can't Say Impossible without first saying Im Possible ...

Typical running QB similar to Michael Vick, problem is injuries pile up and so does their effectiveness.

Separate post. YES, DB will not be here forever and SP and staff will not be either. Rebuilding happens. As they leave and DB retires here, through draft , hopefully there will be somone, new , fresh name and face .

Re: RGIII as Drew's Successor ?
I'll keep an open mind w/RGIII. But no...can't afford to have a QB that is this injury-prone or with the salary he'd be expecting as a back-up for 2-3 years.
Great arm, great mobility, great guy. I'm betting he heads to another team that would overpay him and has a shaky QB situation. Wouldn't it be awesome if he went to the Rams? Eerie... |
