Malcolm Jenkins

We must suck at utilizing defensive talent as I watch Jenkins get his 3rd pick in 3 games.

Re: Malcolm Jenkins

I'm glad for him but that throw was pure garbage. Kaepernick is one stupid mo*****.

Good for Jenkins.

3 friggin INT's already. This is what I was waiting for in New Orleans for years but good for him.

The return was amazing. That is what we are missing. I never saw him do anything like that here.

Sometimes it takes a move for players to get motivated. Although I think our secondary coaching has been pretty sorry for the last few years.

Sprolls having great season too. Looks like they are the Saints North

Re: Malcolm Jenkins

I had no problems with the way Jenkins played last year, especially when he came down from safety to cover man-on-man or lined up in the slot.

In hindsight, we could've kept him at roughly the same money he signed with for the Eagles if we had let Robinson go.

Players leave and play much better then they ever did in New Orleans. Not a good look for our coaching staff.

But there is no way to say that he would have played anything like he has this year for us...

Yup...

Bush
Ivory
Sproles
Jenkins
even Harper is playing better...
Bushrod
J. Bell

I don't really mind losing any of them, the only one that bothered me was Ivory. However you're right it does not make Payton and crew look good when our old players go to other teams and play like pro-bowlers. Jenkins is playing like the best FS in the league and Sproles won 2 games for the Eagles already.

Re: Malcolm Jenkins

I think players get cut, have to reassess themselves, and when given a second change they step up in a new environment.

On our team: Drew Brees, Sharper, Sproles (when he came from SD), Shokey, Lewis (Pittsburgh fans were ready for him to go), etc. etc.

Happens all the time. Sometimes players are truly washed up. Others, they get let go to make room at the cap, business only decision.

Re: Malcolm Jenkins

Lofton was an all pro before he got here. Byrd was all pro before he got here. Hawthorne was an extremely promising player before he got here. Bunkley was all pro before he got here. It's just a little ironic....

Barry from MS 09-28-2014 04:53 PM

Re: Malcolm Jenkins

Hard to watch these players play Pro Bowl-caliber in different systems. Jenkins has 3 more INTs than our entire defense and his Pick 6 is something we haven't seen here in, what, 2 1/2 years?

Danno 09-28-2014 04:54 PM

Re: Malcolm Jenkins

And Harper gets burned by Steve smith on one play for 12 yards, and the SR haters are piling on.
I'm glad they're doing well with their other teams.
How's Will Smith and Lance Moore doing?

I hope that Byrd does something tonight. Romo is perfect fit for his skillset.

Will and Lance were over the hill in their departure. Will definitely was.

I think Will Smith is cut and Lance Moore is seeing spot-play in PIT.

I don't care who it is, we desperately need to take the ball away...

Moore had one catch for 12 yards.

And I knew we should have moved up for Bridgewater. Especially with Baptiste not even touching the field.

Move up for Bridgewater to sit behind Drew for who knows how long?

Re: Malcolm Jenkins

I think the freshness of another defense/offense was just what Malcolm and Darren needed. Hoping Byrd will come around to that soon. Like in 2.5 hours.

They just need to win on 3rd down... Enough turn-over talk.

We sucked with turn-overs last year and the D was great. Just play solid D.

Sproles was great when healthy for us. He'll end up getting hurt half way through the season; like I said, good for them but I don't think we have made terrible moves.

Lofton was never an all-pro before he left Atlanta for New Orleans.
Never even second team All-Pro.

Re: Malcolm Jenkins

It is pretty much unanimous in NFL circles that SP is one of the best coaches in the game. I find it hard to believe that its all due to coaching. He may make some poor choices on his assistants, but how long to keep those coaches is not entirely up to him. Our defense has had problems for the majority of the time SP has been here under several different defensive coordinators.
Nobody is mentioning the uncanny number of UDFAs and unknown players that have been discovered under SP regime that have turned out to be very special.

I don't know man, it was thrown right to him, again. We'll see, but I am not sorry we let that guy go

He did play better last year though, that was his best season with us

spkb25 09-28-2014 05:19 PM

Re: Malcolm Jenkins

Dude... some players look better where they were and when they get to their new team they are not as good, but it really had to do with who was around them where they were.

For instance, Clyde Simmons
Harper with cowboys then with bucs, houshminzadah, etc

Even if he's not, Payton will not bench him until he retires... And the last I heard he was talking 40ish

If he continues to play him past his prime because it's "Brees" then that's horrible coaching.

There are no signs yet of past his prime, so why would you want to draft a rookie that's going to sit at least 2-3 years? Would any 1st round QB be happy about that?

Isn't that what Bridgewater was doing until Cassell got hurt? Didn't Aaron Rodgers do it?
