Re: THis team just aint worth watching.
Time to look ahead to the Bucs game next week at home.
Nothing we can say or do will change this night. |
Re: THis team just aint worth watching.
I knew it was going to be a long season when the Falcons drove the length of the field in fifty seconds at the end of the first half, back in week one. I told my wife, we probably wont make the playoffs this year.

The tough part about all this: This was the easy part of the season. I had us at worse 4-1 til the bye week. After the bye week every game will be against a tough opponent. Think about that for a minute; this was the easy part of the season... |
Re: THis team just aint worth watching.
We're a bad team in a division full of liabilities...but I'm still one loss away from giving up on this season...Panic button has been pressed

Re: THis team just aint worth watching.
Just win next week and then regroup during the Bye week. We have some extremely tough games ahead of us! Packers and Bengals at home will be tough, Lions in Detroit.. wow.

Re: THis team just aint worth watching.
PS: I don`t at all expect the Bucs game to be a blowout. I`ve watched them quiet a bit against the Steelers and they brought some nasty pressure right up the middle which is never good for Drew.

If it is or is about to be over, let's hope the coaches recognize it soon and begin risking (little) by playing many. Take advantage of a lost season to see if we have someone already on the team who can start but isn't yet...like a LB who can tackle. During a bad season with Ditka, we found Sammy Knight and started the UDFA. If it's not over already, it can get worse. IF Armstead is out for any length of time, we're going to regret our foolishness in (not) drafting serious OL prospects (OT Rooks in the 6th was not serious) or at least paying for one in free agency. Bryce Harris starting? Ugh. |

Re: THis team just aint worth watching.
It's time to press the panic button, it's not time to press the abandon all hope this is the end button. Seriously we are 4 games into the season in a struggling division. We know this team is talented if they get their **** together. They need to iron out several different things, but we can turn this around. The fact that people are saying **** like the team isn't worth watching 4 weeks into the season after several winning seasons and a Super Bowl from our current staff shows that we have a few bandwagon fans.

Re: THis team just aint worth watching.
We are in the weakest division this year, which we are helping make the weakest division
Easily the worst saints team I've seen in a very long time, so glad I can cancel the days I've booked off to watch Monday night football, losing happens but I'd understand if we actually fought for the win We just let Dallas do whatever they wanted, a full season of that and its not just RR that needs to go, SP needs to have a reality check |
Re: THis team just aint worth watching.
Someone said on here last week about things going stale with the same players, coaching staff etc. I agreed last week and still do (have not seen last nights game as its a 1am start over here).
The great teams that sustain long term success and multiple championships do it with a turnover of talent. The teams better players leave and are replaced by younger hungrier players. The tactics are changed to freshen things up and keep from being predicable. Look through the main coaching staff and we have changed at DC but our head coach/OC is the same man and has been for 8 years. The main player personnel is the same(Brees, Evans, Thomas, Strief, Colston, Meachem and Goodwin were even brought back) have all been here years, even Graham, Ingram have 4 years now. Only Cooks and Stills have offered anything different in recent years. Everyone knows the Saints tatics screen pass, look for Colston/Graham through the middle, run 30/35% of plays and when under pressure force the ball to Graham. Brees has been and still is a great QB but I do not see how anyone can argue the zip and power on anything over medium range. The amount of under throws this year has been a real worry. As teams are finding it easier and easier to score points as the leagues keeps changing rules teams built on high powered offenses will not be able to blow anyone out the water any more. Only 5 teams are averaging under 19ppg this year. The cap situation will not help next year as we sit well over the cap. Brees and other vets may restructure or extend to free up space but that just keeps the same players around longer and longer with diminishing performances and higher cap figures. The LBs we have are one of if not the worst unit in the league, especially in coverage. Lofton racks up plenty of stats in tackles but how often do you see him make the impact at the line and not 5-6 yards down field. With all the restructuring the front 7 will earn 48.8ml next year. Even cutting Lofton, Hawthorne and Bunkley means you eat $11.2ml in dead money to save $9.7ml. If you cannot get pressure you wont rush QBs to pass causing turnovers and nobody is getting pressure. Every teams knows hold Jordan and Gallete and you dont have to worry about anyone else getting multiple sacks. Keenan Lewis is generally a good CB but not going to get many interceptions. The only ball hawk in the team is Byrd. This isn't a defense to create turnovers and it has no depth at all. |
Re: THis team just aint worth watching.
Great post lee909
Brees has definitely lost some deep throw ability, he had Graham wide open with 2 steps on the defender and brees threw it short so that Graham had to slow down and the CB nearly picked it off Like you said, our team as a whole is entirely too predictable, coach Payton barely changes his playbook over the years, we do the same thing with the same personel every year and its finally caught up with us I know SP won't get fired, but he deserves to be on the hot seat for not preparing our team for the season Whoever's bright idea it was to pay galette aswell, good job, he has officially given up since he now believes "he's made it" |
Re: THis team just aint worth watching.
Do you guys have all access passes to the saints organization? All this talk of what people are thinking and playbook a, You sure sound like you do.

Re: THis team just aint worth watching.
We have one if the most consistent offenses in NFL history so NO I won't blame the offense....the problem is the defense...NOTICE every play they're trying to get strips instead of tackles. Byrd is the only one not doing this. Cam is trying but Gallete is playing like a Diva....WE HAVE TO TACKLE...And get an EXPERIENCED corner from somewhere at the other side to even give this team a crack at a win streak

Brees throwing into triple coverage, receivers dropping passes, no running game Our D is pathetic, but that doesn't stop the offense from answering with a score and taking some pressure off, our high flying offense didnt score a TD until the 3rd quarter. |

Re: THis team just aint worth watching.
Turning Point: Graham misses a 41 yard field goal in beginning of 2nd quarter of a 7-0 game. We had just drove 65 yards from inside our own 15 yard line in 5 minutes to get ZERO.
It was a mess after that miss. Plenty of other jackass-ery in this game in all phases, but I can point to that 41 yard miss by that idiot as the point where this game changed drastically. After that miss, they score 17 points in over half a quarter. Halftime score: 24-0 |

Criticism is understandable, abandoning them is not what real fans do. Especially being that we're only 1 game behind some really weak teams in our division and we've played exactly 1 home game. I'm still 100% convinced that we win this division, crappy defense and all. |

Re: THis team just aint worth watching.
Well I kept laughing at everyone who claims we have all this talent... I didn't see it.
Offense we have talent and key role players but take them out of the system most of them are no bodies. Defense - there are no bodies. We keep patching wholes with no bodies and they over achieved so far and not they are exactly what they are - no bodies. |

I would never abandon the team, but I'm not prepared to book days off work and stay up until 5am to watch our players give that pathetic performance If we lost a hard fought game then fair enough, but our players did not even try yesterday |

Remember when Roll Tide (Ingram) had the so called "outburst" when he wasn't on the same page with an OLineman a few weeks back & some made big deal out of it? We need guys to start jaw jacking, HUSTLING, communicating and acting like they care. The passion & desire to be great on every play is missing thus far. Those fools on the Dallas bench were laughing at us in the 3rd quarter. We can right the ship, however the sense of urgency has to start immediately. |
Re: THis team just aint worth watching.
Our D was being hyped as being this new innovated revamped Seattle type D with the Safeties and all but WHERE THE HECK IS IT???
They really need to deploy that scheme to help out the DB's. |
Re: THis team just aint worth watching.

1) The team (particularly the defense) plays with no energy and no passion as soon as they start getting beat they roll over like a scared puppy. This is a direct reflection of poor leadership from not only the coaches but the players as well. 2) The offense is far too predictable. After watching Payton's offense for 8 years I can predict 80% of the plays he will run. If I can do that you know a defensive coordinator can do the same. We played our best offense when Payton wasn't calling the plays. Did anyone else notice when we went no-huddle and Brees started calling the plays our offense started rolling? |
