If anything, I'd say the Saints completely respected him. We signed him at a later stage in his career, made him a big part of the offense and he was able to set the NFL AP record. That's not going to happen on another team.

It was impossible when all things are factored in to keep him...other contracts, trying to balance youth with age on the roster, trying to get as much value out of a player before there is none left. The only people who disrespected him were the Chargers when they limited his touches.

I like Sproles he's one of my favorite Saints and I'm disappointed the relationship couldn't have ended in a friendly manner.

But it is a business and Sproles should know that. He was due 5 million a year and played on a team with several promising running backs. He had to see it coming. Sean Payton explained to him that the team had to go in another direction BEFORE they told anyone else. It's unfortunate that the trade was leaked but in today's information age, it's difficult to keep anything a secret. He comes off as bitter and unintelligent.

I wish him the best where ever he goes.

He wanted to stay, he found out he was traded via Twitter - face it, whatever happened, maybe it was an accident, or a slip-up, but if that's true, then that aspect of it was handled VERY poorly by the Saints organization. His wife going off on a rant was kind of comical, but still....team could have handled it better.

Now he has earned NFC Special Teams Player of the Week and NFC Offensive Player of the Week awards this year, the first player in league history to do so in the same season. OK, which current Saints player on the roster has done anything CLOSE to that, this year? Just name one, I'm waiting!

Until things change, I think some Saints fans just need to chill out, look at their own team's predicament, and get used to being on the dumping end of the bucket with stuff like this. I can't believe all the hate and putdowns directed at Sproles, here and elsewhere, when it WAS the Saints front office who screwed up that situation.

Between Sproles, Jenkins, Harper, & De La Punte, it seems like some Saints players have left the Saints, and they seem to be doing pretty well at their new destinations. Meanwhile, some guys, like Brodrick Bunkley & Pierre Thomas for example, took a pay cut and stayed, and are doing pretty miserable.

We've apparently got a team and a locker room that's literally falling apart. Factions in the locker room, rumors that veteran guys are unhappy, we have big money stars acting like big shots and underperforming, we have players throwing temper tantrums on the sidelines, a hopelessly confused defense of 2nd string nobodies, and idiotic fake punts. GOOD GRIEF.

Judging from how harshly some Saints fans are jumping on Sproles, it looks like he hit a nerve!

lack of professional courtesy i agree. but professional courtesy is as good as a mans word and a hand shake in business today. not worth a thing. so why the surprise?

MEANWHILE, lets get back to worrying at Saints 2014 who are very rich in talent who have very rich contracts too and we are not seeing too much work.

First it was just his wife, or girlfriend or whatever she is (I can't remember) running her mouth at the Saints and now he's at it? Now I really don't miss him. He stunk last year. Period. He was healthy, and he did nothing. It got to the point that every time he was in the game you knew exactly what was coming, as we tried to force feed the crap out of him, with horrible results. He's had one good game for Philly. Let's not even act like he's making a come back after he had one good game and a couple so-so games.

Same thing with Jenkins. "he's ball hawking for them, we shouldn't have let him go". And uh.... how is that defense looking? Is he getting burned on pretty much every pass in the middle of the field? I bet he is. Don't miss either of them.

If I had a nickel for every time I heard that, the NFL would fine and suspend me.
