It hasn't been the greatest week for New Orleans Saints defensive coordinator Rob Ryan.

Last Sunday, his unit was thrashed by the Dallas Cowboys on national television. On Thursday he learned that veteran safety Jairus Byrd, the team's biggest offseason acquisition, suffered a season-ending knee injury.

But Ryan said the Saints are "close to getting it fixed." Away from football, he takes solace in family, and the biggest development in the Ryan household this week was the addition of a new pet.

Of course I don't hate him. Met him briefly at Greenbrier and he was a great guy. I just wish his players cared more for him and gave better effort.

I don't know anyone that hates the guy. He might be the most likable coach I can ever remember.

I have faith that he'll adjust and get things going right. I expect an effort boost after losing Byrd. I think we'll be flying all over the field wreaking havoc and crushing skulls.

Blitz often and then some, rotate players. Start getting the defense fired up about making plays. This is not happening. We are losing largely because of a lackluster approach. He has better players than GW. Make it work. The talent is there.

Is it really fair to say that he "can't seem to get it," when his defense was 4th in the league last season?

And wasn't he the defensive coordinator when we got rid of Vilma, Smith, Harper and Jenkins weren't they overpriced vets? Didn't they let Champ walk?

Don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to say he isn't a big part of what's going wrong with the defense this year, I just don't think it's the aging vets problem that we seem to have had here for a long time.

I don't hate anybody ( ok, maybe the Falcons ). Rob Ryan was golden last year. I mean he could have been crowned king of NOLA. So to start hating him this year after only 4 games -- is asinine.

It is both scheme and the player's desire to win -- the talent is there. And, we already know RR can scheme to beat NFL offenses.
Junior and Jordan? They have not shown up. We know they know what to do and how to do it. The fact is they are not doing their jobs

So, other than the secondary playing 15 yards off receivers -- I think this is on the players.

This is not rob Ryan's fault. The players simply don't give a **** which is what disappoints me the most. This unit is clearly capable after seeing how well they played last year. This is a psychological issue with the team. They are barely going through the motions.

RR is the most likable and most 'New Orleans' coach we may have ever had. He is fun to watch on the sidelines, he speaks his mind with no filter. I like the guy, I just hope he can scheme a better defense. I actually think without Jairus Byrd now, we are going to see teams test us deep and it could benefit our defense. Vaccaro and Bush need to step up.

I still like Rob Ryan a lot. There have been some critical errors. There were some bright spots in our win over Minnesota and there were some nice moments even against Dallas. Hey our offense turned the ball over, what, like three times??? That's not a recipe for success.

Hate is a strong word and probably not applicable amongst the Who Dats.
Make the adjustments and turn it around that's all! A win against the Bucs will be an instant remedy.

Something we did awesome last year was get off the field on 3rd downs

I think i hate the media more than RR to be honest. they over stated his role in changing the saints and sensationalized it till the players and the coach actually stated believing all those press clippings they were cutting out and stuffing away.

I was worried we was going to loose him to a head coaching job before the year started. How quickly thoughts change. Hate is a little too much though. Now Ole roger might be one of the few people in this world I truly hate. Its a shame he is still employed.

With today's super close win and at the home SDome, and S are 2-3, he and his players, Brees, and the whole team have 2 good weeks to get back at what they need to do.

Nice, so winning in OT every weekend will be "close to getting it fixed". As long as we make the playoffs.

I think we might be the only team to play into 2 overtime games so far this season, let alone, OUR DIVISION! ****ing Idiots!!!
