Why This Game Will Transform the Saints
I said it once I've said it a million times. bad things happen we throw the ball. Minnesota excluded , Brees has turned the ball over in every single game this year and as far back as in Philadelphia last year as well.

Seattle didn't expose us. They were merely a precursor of what was coming. A shift. The resurrection of physicality and run first dominance. The Baileys and Strahans of the world have retired only to give rise to the Suh's and Shermans. This style of football is different from Bradys and even Mannings heyday. Its not so easy to put 50 up anymore.

I noticed it started changing from Arena League back to Jack Tatums hard nosed league when our high powered offense went into Seattle in 2010 and got gut punched , Then again in San Francisco the year after.

At the time I thought oh wow , those niners are going to be a problem not realizing the entire league had began to shift that way.

What im saying is , the rams beating us down repeatedly in the past was a message from the football gods. We cannot remain as we are , a finese team.

The Bucs are tough , The Panthers , The Niners , The Lions , The Jets , The Texans , The Seahawks , The Vikings , The Bills , Hell even Cleveland !

Singletary set this trend in motion when he designed the 49ers to be phsyical beasts , Seattle copied them down to the mobile QB , and was even better at it !

Dallas got the Memo too , drafting monsters on the offensive line. Now all of the sudden they cant be stopped.

So how did this win change anything ? Its kind of interesting actually, we proved we cannot win throwing anymore. More importantly Payton proved it to himself. Dead check man in the mirror like. Is something wrong with Brees ? Doesnt matter , we should be running the ball anyways.

we are right back in the mix , Ingram will be back , Graham has time and we get a needed opportunity to reset the season

You Can't Say Impossible without first saying Im Possible ...

"we proved we cannot win throwing anymore"
That makes me sad. Why has this once big play offense seemed to have declined so quickly and without anyone on the coaching staff noticing it? Is Drew's training camp injury lingering? Maybe the shoulder surgery he had prior to coming to the Saints has deteriorated. Has he dropped his off- season conditioning after the big contract. Is Coach in denial about what his offense has become?

Most importantly will he acknowledge the loss of production and make the adjustments necessary to make them productive again.

Re: Accurate Read

You neglected to mention that in 2010 when the Saints played the PEDhawks the Saints ground game was crippled by injuries, so the Saints were forced to be one-dimensional.

Re: Accurate Read

511 yds of offense today....

The only thing "proven" today is that we still make too many mistakes which allows teams to hang in there.

Brees gave them 14 pts today. That doesn't happen often. He made bad decisions.

Receivers dropped passes, defenders missed tackles. Same thing we've seen all year.

IMHO it's less about us being "figured out" and more about mental errors.

Re: Accurate Read

You want my opinion its a combination of things.

#1 - I dont think the offensive plan and play calling has been too great, Sean Payton problem indeed.

#2 I dont think our weapons are playing up to par on offense either except maybe Cooks who is a rookie, it seems all talent has went down hill and just not in rhythm with Brees anymore.

What I am saying is the defenses are not scared of the Saints offense and are able to counter it now, today we saw glimpses of the old offense of making the Bucs prepare for Jimmy Graham or even PT and then dumping it off to the next best guy there, which is what the Saints use to do, create matchup problems, this year it seems they not been able to do that.

Re: Accurate Read

Brees is showing himself to be more turnover prone then ever before. 3 picks at home? How often does that happen? He rarely throws 1 at home. Even though the defense has stunk it up, the offense has had opportunities to finish every game.

Re: Accurate Read

Brees was under duress all game long.

Bress through for over 300 yards, we put up over 500 yard, scored 37 points, and that was with multiple drops. I am not sure you can't win throwing... the Broncos have been doing it all year.

Brees has always been prone to turnovers when 1 or two things occur- the OLine ****s the bed or he tries to do too much. He has to be patient. Sometimes he puts too much of it on his back.

Re: Accurate Read

I don't see whatever change you think you're talking about. That 2010 game in seattle? It was an embarrassing loss, but it was a loss we scored 36 points in, and that was without a lot of people. We just need to adjust to different styles of play. When can run it when we try. We just seem to be one dimensional from a coaching standpoint, and Brees is simply not as accurate as he used to be. We could rely on him a little more in the past, and even then, we ran the ball to the tune of 4th in the league in 2009. I don't know that there is any specific formula for success. You just need to be versatile and creative enough to match up with whoever you're playing. We're not doing that so well in the last couple years.

If I had a nickel for every time I heard that, the NFL would fine and suspend me.
