We need to make room for Drew's replacment! He's lost every game this year with poor passes all over the field!

I thought about that, but they've cleared out his locker and his twitter account was deleted.

Its strange.

seems like there might be some criminal charges coming his way, or maybe the HGH testing that is being done.

Nothing else makes sense. They didn't need to cut him for any reason at all, they just didn't want him associated with the team in any fashion. Something is odd.

Also our LB coach is worthless just like our ST coach.

That's the only thing that makes sense. He's done something that warranted the team firing him. I hate to jump to conclusions but my guess is that it is something illegal that has yet to be announced.

Isn't our LB coach, Rob Ryan himself? At least that's what he's known for, his ability to work with the LB's...

We tried to sign the 49ers LB coach a couple years back, but harbaugh stopped the talks being allowed

Vitt is clueless, just like McMahon

Wasn't that when we were looking for the new coordinator? We also tried to get the Georgia coordinator...

Yeah that's right, but good positional coaches becoming D coordinators still manage to make those positions better because they have all the experience to know what will work

SP and RR continually harp on how good vitt is and he's not once developed a linebacker for us

We've resorted to bringing in LB's in free agency because he can't do his job right.

Joe Vitt...shaping the hearts & minds of linebackers drafted by the Saints since 2006. Keep up the good work.

WAIT WAIT WAIT... they developed Scott Shanle into the most feared player on the team (feared by Saints fans), and they were smart enough to let Fujita walk... these guys are geniuses.

If things don't improve (WINNING) down in the Big Easy, I think a lot of coaches will be packing up the U Haul next season & looking for work elsewhere.

Thinking the same thing...

Guess Joe Vitt didn't like Vontaze Burfict either...

Joe Vitt's not a mentor or guidance counselor. He's not here to develop, he's here to coach.

Maybe if we give the guy some talent to work with...

Graham injury worse than thought?

Saints add TE Tom Crabtree, put S Jairus Byrd on injured reserve

With injuries a potential concern at tight end, the Saints added to their ranks at the position on Tuesday, signing Tom Crabtree, according to the NFL’s transactions.

The 28-year-old Crabtree played in seven games for Tampa Bay in 2013, catching four passes for 21 yards and a touchdown. This followed a three-season stint with Green Bay (2010-2012). Overall, Crabtree has caught 22 passes for 323 yards and five TDs in 53 regular season contests.

The Saints’ top tight end, Jimmy Graham, suffered a shoulder injury in Sunday’s win vs. Tampa Bay, but the injury is regarded as minor. What’s more, the Saints have their bye in Week Six, giving Graham extra time to heal before New Orleans returns to action on October 19 at Detroit.

However, even if Graham doesn’t miss any games, the Saints might want to manage his practice reps. The same could go for backup tight end Benjamin Watson, who has been dealing with a groin injury since Week Four. Crabtree’s addition gives the Saints four tight ends, with second-year pro Josh Hill another reserve option.

Crabtree takes the roster spot that belonged to free safety Jairus Byrd, who was placed on injured reserve on Tuesday. Byrd suffered a torn lateral meniscus last week.

'76, gotta disagree, brother...

Position coaches are directly responsible for developing, mentoring, coaching players - at the least the good teams do...

Look at the quarterback position, Holmgren turned average talents into Hall of Fame guys (Montana, Young)...

Given you're absolutely right, and I've banged the drum as much on the draft/prospect threads, we've not committed a 1,2 or 3 round pick on a linebacker; but damn, not one significant developed linebacker in Vitt's tenure...

If it's not his job, he's in the wrong vocation...

Also, everybody's favorite current man crush, Josh Hill. Hill plays special teams. With Graham out, Hill on offense, need somebody to fill in on special teams and in practice etc. Can't risk an injury to Hill or Watson getting dinged up, even if Graham is only out for a short time.

last 5 years only 28 total draft picks one of the lowest if not the lowest of all teams in the nfl.126th pick a total waste pick when you have so few there has to be fewer mistakes.Only thing has saved Saints is the good job done on rookie ufda players which makes me think the people in charge let the scouts do the ufda players an there is to much risk taking of players picked with injury or personal head case historys by saints top managment boys which have rolled snake eyes several times. Now if the saints would trade down pick up more picks then you would have more space for screw ups.this has to change starting next year trade down theres more stastical saftey with more picks esp,. if you wish to take risky picks.:bng::lolup:

Re: The Saints have waived Khairi Fortt

Honestly I think due to the fact we draft quality "gentleman" players thats we are such a soft team when we play teams that have those types of players. So long as the players not a murderer I don't really care what he does, if he plays great football who really cares?? Our line hasn't dominated D lines like it has since we had someone nasty like Nicks on the line. We've been good, not dominant. Same goes for defense, especially defense.

VegasSaint9 10-10-2014 12:53 PM

Re: The Saints have waived Khairi Fortt

I would attribute a lot of our failures to incompetent linebackers/ and bad special teams. I mean how often has a linebacker other than Lofton done anything for us. Lofton's not even spectacular, he's just really solid and has a knack for sniffing out and blowing up runs. Just imagine if he was great in space like Bobby Wagner or Kuechly.

Special teams has been trash for almost 3-4 years now. Mcmahon has to go.
Vitt, well if we even drafted linebackers and had this problem i'd say get rid of him, but still there's players like Hawthorne who was awesome in Seattle.

What about Hawthorne, he was borderline Pro Bowl player in Seattle. Here, pffttt, bad FA pickup.

And developmental QBs like Murray or McCarron. Brees won't last forever. It's be nice to have one under him for 2 years. Maybe even less than 2 years...Brees throwing some bad INTs this year (again) and arm strength is lacking or something.

On the other hand Parys Haralson is the 4th rated 4-3 OL by PFF this year. Saints got him for a 7th round pick.
