Drew Brees says 2-3 record doesn't indicate how rest of New Orleans Saints season will pan out

Drew Brees spent his Monday afternoon to open up the bye week playing the part of a coach as the New Orleans Saints' quarterback filmed a commercial for Pepsi at the Walmart parking lot in Algiers.

I was given a behind-the-scenes look at the filming of the commercial and caught up with Brees for an exclusive interview after the shoot.

Here's a selection of questions I posed to Brees on Monday:

Larry Holder: When you do a commercial, especially in town and you interacting with random people in the streets of New Orleans, what's your mindset going into these shoots?

Drew Brees: First thing is I love how our corporate partners want to do things here in the city. We always encourage that, in fact we like to make that happen because we understand a lot of it is about capturing the mindset and the attitude for what it's like to be a football player down here with this type of fanbase. Any chance you can incorporate the fanbase in what you're doing, especially something like this like Pepsi tailgate, these are really random people that all of a sudden get to show their true fanhood in a total surprise atmosphere. I don't think they know exactly what they're getting into.

LH: What's your favorite commercial you've ever done?

DB: Honestly, anyone that incorporates the family. There's been some with our boys that have just been off the charts. In a way, you're capturing a moment at a certain age or a certain point in their childhood. What's cool is all of those are so genuine and authentic. It's capturing stuff that we would be doing anyway. Then it just happens to be in a commercial with one of our corporate sponsors.

Very Good Read,

We don't put added pressure on ourselves with it, but we certainly feel the responsibility. That's our role as veteran guys. We're the ones they look up to for direction, for confidence. We have to be there for them.

Beg to disagree.

It does portend how the season will pan out.

We are posers on defense and unfocused on offense. This "team" is lazy and overpaid.

Deal, beetches.

"Hey Drew, it's Pepsi on the other line"

"F*** them, I'm 2-3"

:roflmao:

Professorial analysis. Unfortunately ..... have to agree. Our record speaks for itself.

Like the spelling. LOL.

Disagree with both Xan and WHODATINCA.

What we have seen so far is not the norm. We've seen how good this defense can be last year, and we've upgraded several positions.

We also know how good the offense currently is, and it can amazingly get even better.

We are currently underachieving. I don't think we'll underachieve for 11 more games.

Our offense, even though it is not running on all cylinders, is still averaging 30 points a game. Hard to complain about that.
It's that fact that the defense is also allowing almost 30 points a game that has us at 2-3.
