Review of Bucs game
I am 3 quarters of the way through rewatching that Bucs game and there are a few observations to be made.
1. The defense is entirely too complicated for our players. On multiple occasions in the first half the players are pointing at each other trying to figure out who is suppose to cover whom. We are really missing Vilma, not for his skills at the position but for his intelligence of running a defense. Lofton has no idea how to adjust the play or read an offense. 2. Not scoring TDs in the red zone during the first half is killing our momentum. The score should have been 21-0 with less than 5 minutes to go. At that point the offense stops pressing and those 2 INTs may have never happened. Also, speaking of red zone, Jimmy Graham needs to become a red zone decoy. I watched as Cooks, Colston, and Robinson are wide open on the 2nd down incomplete pass to Graham that forced us to kick a field goal two plays later. Graham was draped and injured at that point. The 3rd down pass to Graham in the end zone was also a poor decision, but I blame Graham on that play. He should have either taken himself out or told Drew he is having a shoulder problem because he didn't even try to make that catch because he could not lift his arm. 3. Last observation, I don't want to hear again that Brees gets every roughing the passer call. On the pick 6, Michael Johnson not only hit Brees' in the head but grabs his face mask, and no flag was tossed. There is suppose to be a ref watching. The only reason I bring it up is because Gallette was called for a blow to the head on Glennon to keep a drive alive after a 3rd down Incomplete pass. The problem is, his hand never moved above his shoulder. How does a guy hit a 6'6" QB in the head when his arm is below the shoulder? I am finishing the game right now, but I just had to get this out before I forgot about it. The defense needs to play smarter and the offense needs some red zone TDs or we can forget PLAYOFFS!?!?!?!? |

Good observations. Keep it coming with the fourth quarter.
