There's some merit to both opinions and undoubtedly a QB of Brees' talent would be able to take advantage of the opportunity and work on developing a more balanced passing attack. The Lions are going through a similar situation with Calvin and it is wreaking havoc on Stafford's game though, despite the wide range of offensive weapons made available to him this season.

Hehehe ... there used to be a picture floating around here of Graham dragging a Lion defender across the goal line in the 2011/12 playoff matchup ... yeah, he might be a little older, banged up or something, but I wouldn't go so far as to label him "soft", .

Like I said pre contract. He will always miss several games a season. Its how he plays. This is why I had hoped they wouldn't pay him what they did. We are playing huge money to a player that is only good for 1/3 or 1/4 of the season.
Also wanted more wide receivers via draft or FA. If Colton goes down we aren't left with anyone who is really proven, albeit Colston has not looked great this season.

Pretty much only 4 pass catchers I trust this season

Cooks, PT, Watson and Hill

Speaks volumes that two of those are backups and one of them is a 3rd down back.

You've got some extremely high standards.

Graham has caught 34 of 46 targets. That's a 74% reception rate. That's outstanding.

Of the top 20 receivers (yards) this season, only one has a better percentage (and he's a running back)

Jordy Nelson 63%
Antonio Brown 67%
Julio Jones 64%
TY Hilton 68%
Golden Tate 72%
Alshon Jeffery 67%
Demarius Thomas 56%
DeSean Jackson 54%
Emmanuel Sanders 73%
Jeremy Maclinn 45%
Dez Bryant 63%
Delanie Walker 64%
Reggie Wayne 63%
Andre Johnson 63%
Kelvin Benjamin 56%
Julian Edelman 71%
Greg Olsen 64%
Matt Forte 83%

Just curious, is Forte the only guy you'd trust on this list?

Also, there are only two guys on that list that have fewer targets than Graham, Walker and Jackson, so by comparison, it's hard to say the Saints are forcing the ball to Graham.

Reason I don't trust graham that much is because when the ball isn't perfectly thrown he will give a half hearted effort and either tip it up into the air (which subsequently gets picked off) or just reaches out with one hand and drops it.

Fortunately for the Saints, that's exactly the opposite of what's happened.

That's why I listed the stats. Graham's actually catching more than any of the other receivers in the top 20. The truth of the matter is that he's been outstanding at catching most balls thrown his way so far this season.

You've got to be kidding.

In four years, Graham has only missed two games.

Re: Graham out 2-3 weeks

As others have said, it's a good time for Brees to refocus himself on distributing the ball more to everyone else. I have a feeling there are open guys on certain plays when Brees forces the ball to Graham anyway. We can run a very effective two-TE run-heavy offense with Watson and Hill.
