Seriously. Why not?

It'd sure fool 'em...maybe...

49ers do it all the time, fullback blocking for Gore; motion a TE in the backfield pre-snap... Another blocker can't hurt, or you can keep one in the backfield and set-up a mean play-action

Johnson has been good for the Saints, but the way Lorig opened up lanes for the Bucs' run game - I definitely want to see him do that for the Saints' RBs.

And what if we put him in and our running game faulters?

What a player has done in previous season bears no ground this season

Jairus Byrd had 22 turnovers through 4 seasons for the bills, he did absolutely squat here

well what if we put him and our run game soars in yardage gained? Referring to Byrd's faults has nothing to do with Lorig

Great idea. The option of a power running game and a very nice short passing out of the same formations and same personnel groupings. Mismatches everywhere with Drew pulling the trigger.

I mean, seriously, we roll that package out there and just exactly what will DET roll out on defense to match it? Mismatches everywhere. Brilliant. I like it.

I was thinking more of a TE role. Think outside the box fellas

You mean "square peg in a round hole" type of thing that has worked wonders for the Saints in the past?! :-)

Lorig played TE for two years at Stanford.

In his first two years at Stanford, Lorig played tight end and wore number 80. In his freshman campaign, Lorig played in all 12 games where he contributed on special teams and served as the offense's blocking TE, often lining up in the backfield as an H-back/Fullback.
Round peg, meet round hole. You two should get along just fine, I'm headed back to the nachos.

My last comment was more in jest... merely a comment on the whole idea of "thinking outside the box."

...oh, and I do remember SP talking about Lorig's pass catching ability as being one of the things why they targeted him way back in the offseason.
