No sooner than former NFL quarterback Jake Delhomme was named to the Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame on Tuesday did the arrows from New Orleans Saints fans start flying toward Jim Haslett again. Haslett, now the defensive coordinator of the Washington Redskins, has had a good NFL career, both as a player and coach.
But in New Orleans, part of his legacy as the Saints head coach from 2000-05 will be that he whiffed big time on Delhomme in favor of maligned quarterback Aaron Brooks. It wasn't the first time that a coach in New Orleans underestimated the Breaux Bridge native who led the Carolina Panthers to Super Bowl XXXVIII in 2004. Former Tulane coach Buddy Teevens offered Delhomme a free ride with the Green Wave in 1993 only to rescind it. That sent Delhomme to the University of Southwestern Louisiana (now the University of Louisiana-Lafayette) where he is still the all-time leading passer. read more |

That is a good question my friends. But still, Drew is a HOF QB these days. Had not Jake D get hurt, who knows what could had come of him?!

OK, here's another "what if";
What if Aaron Brooks had continued being a run-threat QB (which was working because that was his only talent {just like his cousin M. Vick}) instead of trying to be a pocket passer (which was obvious he wasn't any good at)? |

What if day was night and night was day?
Please, stop it. Payton would not have kept neither Brooks nor Delhomme. |

Yes, because Jake would have been much worse than Aaron Brooks.
End Hypothetical. |
