Re: Seriously might be my last season as a fan
I've said this before and I'll say it again, I cannot feel good about watching this game, and admiring the play of, and getting attached to players on this team, while at the same time knowing that many ( if not most ) will suffer from all kinds of physical and mental infirmities for the rest of their lives -- especially knowing that they could be disabled for the rest of their lives. Call me "soft" if you want but, that's my opinion.
I don't mind the rules that actually protect players health. That said, some of the PI calls, and other types of calls that are not really for player safety, are completely over the top and subjective. While I stay away from conspiracy theories ( for the most part without a lot a proof ) I agree that sometimes it really seems like the calls are unfair against us. On the other hand, I see calls against opponents that I think are unfair ( but I'm happy about it ). The officials need to call the games the same way, every time, otherwise, there will continue to be discussions like this one. |

Re: Seriously might be my last season as a fan
It sounds like the NFL is currently going through what the Australian Football League (AFL) is currently going through i.e. consistent tinkering of the rules that don't require fixing. In particular, changing interpretations of subjective rules. Never a good mix because it leaves fans in a state of confusion.
Much like many of you on here, I have become disheartened by how much the AFL has changed and is probbaly the prime reason I have taken to NFL so much, for something different. I must say though, it has frustrated me at times to see yellow flags being thrown. You are actually happy if one isn't thrown such is the regularity of yellow flags. It's hard for me to be frustrated though as I haven't seen much NFL pre this season (except for the NFL Greatest Games series). So I love the game. |

Re: Seriously might be my last season as a fan
I have not watched an entire game since September 2012. After 14 years, cancelled my NFL Ticket mid 2012. Nowadays I just tune into the Saints games here and there to see how things are going; and only through internet (not giving a red cent to the NFL ever again). SNF, MNF, TNF, don't watch at all unless the Saints are involved, and again, in small dosages, and through not DTV and not NFL Mobile.
It's harder and harder to stomach the entire NFL circus anymore. Nowadays, I find myself rooting hard for the Royals... guess the hate for SF is still there. |

Re: Seriously might be my last season as a fan
I'll always watch my Saints, but I do find I'm losing interest in most other NFL games.
There was a time it didn't matter who was playing, I'd watch the whole game and enjoy it. Now there are only a few teams I enjoy watching. Now its mostly Saints, and any game that helps the Saints in the standings. |

Re: Seriously might be my last season as a fan
Since we are all being honest, I thank fantasy football for keeping me paying attention. I find im in a much better mood when the saints lose, versus in the past when I wasn't into fantasy. Fantasy football and the chance of winning money is more important to me. I still love my saints and will be here till the end but its much easier to get over when I win my match in fantasy each week.

I made that mistake on the Dallas game. |

spkb, talk to later. You are not a fairweather fan.
Everyone else, good posts. Saints' time is drawing near. I have errands, tasks to finish first. Nerves starting to surface. |
