Re: Is Drew Brees the worst QB when under pressure?
He's having some problems this year that's for sure. He has given up some stupid interceptions by trying to pitch the ball up in the air while going down just to avoid a sack. He did the exact same thing in 2012 when our defense sucked worse than any other defense in the league. I think its just his competitive nature to try and MAKE something happen when he shouldn't. He obviously consciously worked on that over the bye because there were plenty of situations where he just threw the ball away instead of pitching it up in the air. Interceptions like the one at Detroit happen, unfortunately this one cost us the game. Its those other interceptions that bother me the most.

We need more bargain basement cast off linemen who are on permanent disability. Otherwise we're going to have to restructure some contracts.

Re: Is Drew Brees the worst QB when under pressure?
The focus shouldn't be on the o-line here, that's not what this excerpt is saying. Every QB in the NFL faces pressure at times, even the best o-line will give up pressures to their QB. This article is just pointing out that Drew has been the worst QB in dealing with those pressures this season, meaning Geno Smith has done a better job under pressure.

Re: Is Drew Brees the worst QB when under pressure?
Do you guys even read the other posts here? Because the data to answer this question is within easy reach. Here you go: The Saints' problems are because of a failure to protect Drew Brees | The MMQB with Peter King
So, what this says is that when elite QBs like Peyton Manning and Tom Brady get pressured above 20% of the time in a game -- they usually lose the game ( unless you play the Raiders ). Whose responsibility is it to protect the QB? That's right kids -- it's our highly paid O-Line. |

Apparently reading comprehension is lacking today. I am trying to have a somewhat intelligent discussion regarding Drew's inability to throw successfully WHEN UNDER PRESSURE as the article and first post originally stated. Like I said before, every QB gets pressured throughout the game, some more than others but right now Drew is the least successful when pressured. This entire topic has nothing to do with the o-line. My hypothesis; Drew never fully recovered from his oblique injury which is making him have happy feet in the pocket along with reducing his ability to throw the deep ball. Anyone else care to have a interesting conversation/speculation with me? EDIT: For the record I agree with you, the o-line does suck and they/Payton need to protect Drew better. |

Re: Is Drew Brees the worst QB when under pressure?
Teams are not afraid to bring pressure because our receivers can't get separation and Brees is making bad decisions, our fastest receiver is running screens and slants
All teams need to do is jam our receivers and Brees will either get sacked or throw into triple coverage Plus brees would always check down to sproles under pressure who could pick up a lot of first downs, we don't have that any more. |

It doesn't surprise me at all. He's made some uncharacteristically bad throws through 6 games, but its only 6 games. Thats a small sample size and he's been money over the years.
